ABOVE AND BEYOND CAREGIVER: "As our caregiver, "L", was leaving at the end of her 4-hour shift, my mother's hand slipped from the door frame as she was waving goodbye. My mother fell from the doorway to the concrete porch where she hit her head, hands, and knees. "L" immediately came to Mom’s aid attempting to get her inside. When Mom couldn’t get up with help, "L" stayed with Mom and called 911. She then notified me in Florida and stayed until the EMT’s and our son (a police officer in Wilmington) arrived. She has been with me 3X/week since then. I can tell you she is an exceptional human being: kind, caring, affectionate, diligent and efficient. She is always willing to do anything I need, and performs a wide range of helpful things for me: takes me to appointments and grocery shopping, does my laundry, makes and changes sheets on my bed, helps me prepare meals, changes batteries, assembles furniture (including a Christmas tree last Christmas), etc. etc. , and always with a smile!
