In 2019, our region’s Elevate Greater Akron initiative identified the need for making bigger bets on our economic future - this led to the creation of the Polymer Industry Cluster. 5 years later and the work of many organizations, partners, and individuals led to Akron's recent $51M implementation grant award. This money creates a destination in our region for attracting new businesses, private investment, talent, jobs, and sustainability advances. We recently invited #interns from the across the region to join us for a downtown food crawl! Across four groups, we stopped at a total of 11 destinations and were greeted by business owners who detailed their individual journeys, what makes their location great, and why they chose Akron. This was a fantastic opportunity for interns to network among each other, learn more about downtown Akron, and sample some great bites and sips.
