This month G4GC staff attended Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy in New Orleans, LA. We were thrilled to have Dr. Whitney Richards, G4GC Senior Director of Research, and our research consultant Vanessa Patino-Lydia present and uplift ethical and intersectional research methodologies in their workshop titled "RealSearch: Gathering Ethical Intersectional Data in Philanthropy." Additionally, G4GC Vice President of Operations and Programs Maheen Kaleem shared her thoughts in the closing plenary, where she inspired us with insights on harnessing philanthropic courage in these uncertain times. Our team was honored to connect with so many like-minded folks in philanthropy, working toward more beneficial practices in our work.

She entered the women's movement in 1978 by working at the first rape crisis center in the US- the DC Rape Crisis Center Her opening remarks lead to an intergenerational conversation with Ashlei Spivey and Lolah-Belle Bunche (I Be Black Girl), and Ponny White (Girls for Gender Equity) about the legacy and framework of reproductive justice as a Black feminist praxis, and why the fight for bodily autonomy is essential to freedom for Black women, girls, and gender-expansive people. 📢 Investing in girls of Color is not just an option—it's a necessity! As we face critical rollbacks in civil rights and gender justice, it's crucial to ensure our philanthropy reaches the most overlooked and underfunded: girls and gender-expansive youth of Color. 🌍✨ Their activism and leadership are already shaping a more just future, but they need our robust and intentional support. Today, less than 0.5% of philanthropic giving in the U.S. reaches these young changemakers. Read G4GC's latest op-ed article by Dr. Monique Couvson, President and CEO, and learn why it's crucial to invest in girls of Color more than ever. READ NOW: https://lnkd.in/gGkqPydV
