Water is life. Water is a vital resource. ... but with rising temperatures and reduced winter snow, the water levels at Lake Powell and Lake Mead are dropping. These lakes are crucial for generating hydropower at the dams that provide electricity for over 40 million people in the Southwest. Maintaining adequate water levels is essential for both our energy needs and water supply, making conservation more important than ever. Grand Canyon is caught in the middle of these two basins. How can we all do a better job at using less power and water in our daily lives? 😃 Employee Spotlight - Tiffany Huizenga, Facilities Maintenance Assistant. She supports all GCC properties within the Canyon and has been with GCC for two years. 🤠 What has been your favorite experience while working for GCC? 😁 It is terribly difficult to narrow down a single favorite GCC experience, as a countless amount comes to mind! However, taking part in GCC's various events definitely inspires me, as I often observe how tangible GCC's impact is on our guests. 🤠 What part of your work is most fulfilling? 😁 I love interacting with our staff, guests, and Mother Nature. It is an honor to be a cog in the wheel of GCC's small but mighty organization, volunteering to be a Grand Caretaker of this beautiful place. 🤠 Do you have a trail or viewpoint at Grand Canyon or any other outdoor space? 😁 Any place where I can gaze upon the world's beauty is my kind of place and I usually find them while wandering down dirt roads just to see where they lead. 🤠 What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working? 😁 As an avid researcher of natural healing, I love learning and sharing that knowledge with others. 🤠 If you were any dessert, what dessert would you bet? 😁 I'd say I'm most like a Chipotle Chocolate Lava Cale, warm and sweet with one heck of a kick! 🤠 Is there anything else you’d like us to know about you? 😁 My schoolmates nominated me a Class Clown years ago, and I have yet to stop injecting my sense of humor into my surroundings. "Happiness is a choice! In life, we are only in control of one thing—and that is our attitude."
