This October, we are proud to join in recognizing National Disability Employment Awareness Month. “Our theme in 2024, ‘Access to Good Jobs for All,’ speaks to our commitment to expand the number of employment opportunities for people with disabilities and the quality of those opportunities,” stated Assistant Secretary for Disability Employment Policy Taryn M. Williams. “Good jobs change lives and all workers — including disabled people — deserve the opportunity to prepare for success in high-quality, good-paying jobs in workplaces free of discrimination.” People with disabilities bring a wide range of talents, perspectives, and skills that contribute to our success. By promoting a culture of inclusion, we open the doors to greater innovation and collaboration for all.

Today marks the beginning of National Hispanic Heritage Month to be celebrated through October 15th. We welcome this time to honor the vibrant cultures, rich histories, and significant contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities nationwide and within our own organization. The timing of Hispanic Heritage Month coincides with the Independence Day celebrations of several Latin American nations dating back to 1921. The kickoff date of September 15 was chosen because it coincides with the day five central American countries declared their independence from Spain - Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Join us as we honor the cultural legacy of Hispanic and Latino Americans and celebrate the impact of their talents, traditions, and values.

Those that experienced this tragedy will surely never forget and the proclamation of Patriot Day ensures it will continue to be acknowledged for generations to come. While this is a day of remembrance, it also provides an opportunity to focus on unity and the importance of supporting one another, both in our professional and personal lives. Take a moment today to reflect on that day which reminds us of the strength of our country, the importance of our loved ones, and the steadfastness of the communities we hold dear.

In 2021, President Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act, S. 475, creating a federal holiday to commemorate Juneteenth (short for June Nineteenth), marking the anniversary of the last African American slaves being free. Last week, President Biden shared the following to those gathered at a special concert celebrating the holiday. "Juneteenth, as a federal holiday, is meant to breathe new life into the very essence of America. To make sure all Americans feel the power of this day and the progress we can make as a country; to choose love over hate, unity over disunion, and progress over retreat." GovStrive honors Juneteenth and its celebration of African American history and heritage.

Being a father is a role that goes far beyond just a title. Whether you are a biological father, stepdad, or father figure, thank you for what you mean to your families and friends. For those that may face holidays such as Father's Day with difficulty, may you find comfort in happy memories celebrated with those you love. Happy Father's Day!

Each year in June, the LGBTQ community celebrates Pride Month with events across the globe. June was chosen in commemoration of the Stonewall Riots of 1969, a watershed moment in the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. Pride Month celebrates and honors the profound influence that gay, bisexual, and transgender people have had on history at local, national, and international levels. Beyond a celebration, Pride Month is an opportunity to promote dignity, equal rights, and self-affirmation for everyone.
