In 2021, President Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act, S. 475, creating a federal holiday to commemorate Juneteenth (short for June Nineteenth), marking the anniversary of the last African American slaves being free. Last week, President Biden shared the following to those gathered at a special concert celebrating the holiday. "Juneteenth, as a federal holiday, is meant to breathe new life into the very essence of America. To make sure all Americans feel the power of this day and the progress we can make as a country; to choose love over hate, unity over disunion, and progress over retreat." GovStrive honors Juneteenth and its celebration of African American history and heritage.

Being a father is a role that goes far beyond just a title. Whether you are a biological father, stepdad, or father figure, thank you for what you mean to your families and friends. For those that may face holidays such as Father's Day with difficulty, may you find comfort in happy memories celebrated with those you love. Happy Father's Day!

Each year in June, the LGBTQ community celebrates Pride Month with events across the globe. June was chosen in commemoration of the Stonewall Riots of 1969, a watershed moment in the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. Pride Month celebrates and honors the profound influence that gay, bisexual, and transgender people have had on history at local, national, and international levels. Beyond a celebration, Pride Month is an opportunity to promote dignity, equal rights, and self-affirmation for everyone.

While the long weekend offers a well-deserved break, Memorial Day serves as a solemn occasion to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. Beyond the barbecues and parades, let's use this weekend as an opportunity to truly honor their memory. Each year, a national moment of silence takes place at 3:00p.m. on the Memorial Day holiday. Join us in a commitment to pause at this time to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to allow the freedoms and privileges we enjoy today.

Let's take a moment to appreciate and honor all the mothers in our lives, whether they are with us in person or in our hearts. Biological mothers, adoptive mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, or mother figures - each one leaves a significant mark on our hearts and shapes who we are as individuals. Their strength, wisdom, and love shape the world in beautiful ways. Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing mothers and mother figures!

We MARCH-ed to the tune of all things Irish with our GovStrive Team in Dublin! We had the privilege of attending the many Dublin St. Patrick’s Festival community events. GovStrive co-sponsored the March Dublin-Laurens Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours networking event. Also, our CFO Travis Craft served as Master of Ceremonies for the Dublin St. Patrick’s Festival Joint Civic Luncheon where Governor Brian Kemp was the keynote speaker.

March is designated as Women's History Month to honor and celebrate the contributions, achievements, and progress of women throughout history. During this month, various special promotions and initiatives are created to raise awareness about women's issues and highlight the importance of empowering women in all aspects of society. It provides an opportunity to acknowledge the accomplishments of women in various fields such as politics, science, arts, business, education, and more.
