Making moves! GMC is pleased to announce the promotion of Ryan Pearce to Executive Vice President of Transportation. With more than 15 years of experience with GMC, Ryan shifts from his previous role of Vice President of Aviation, where he has demonstrated expertise and leadership, doubling the size of the aviation team since 2019. As EVP of Transportation, he will lead both the roadway and aviation groups, including more than 65 employees spanning across six states. “I am extremely humbled by this opportunity. Leveling up! Gadsden State Community College recently cut the ribbon on its Advanced Manufacturing and Workforce Skills Training Center that will provide hands-on learning in a high-tech environment for students seeking careers in specialized fields. The state-of-the-art, 50,000-square-foot facility sits on the East Broad Campus in Gadsden. It hosts 10 laboratories, seven classrooms, 11 offices, multipurpose room, 10 tool and storage rooms, a storm shelter, testing suite, kitchen and serving area, break room and six restroom areas. Majors that will utilize the center include mechatronics, industrial automation, precision machining, mechanical design technology, additive manufacturing and electronics engineering. These are high-demand, high-wage industries that many students have shown interest in. There will also be an apprenticeship-style program for industrial automation majors. It’s beam time! Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) held a beam placement ceremony for their new Student Athletic Performance Center, acknowledging project partners, donors and important leaders for their efforts and commitment to the project thus far. Once completed, the 85,500-square-foot facility will be connected to the north end of Johnny “Red” Floyd Stadium, providing an easily accessible location for athletes and staff, and a unique viewing opportunity for fans on gamedays. The building will consist of three floors, each with different amenities to support athletes and promote growth within the athletic department. GMC is the architect of record for the new sports facility, in partnership with HOK, in addition to providing geotechnical engineering services. Earlier this month, GMC joined TENNESSEE COLLEGE OF APPLIED TECHNOLOGY - PULASKI as they officially broke ground on a $30 million renovation and expansion project. The upgraded campus will include two new buildings totaling 29,639 square feet, multiple courtyard areas to connect the spaces and create a comfortable campus for students, as well as 7,854 square feet of renovations to existing buildings. GMC is providing architecture, interior design, environmental, civil engineering and geotechnical engineering services. It just means more. While in the midst of a three-year renovation, fans may have noticed some changes when walking into the Hoover Met Complex for this year’s SEC Baseball Tournament, one of the largest events the City of Hoover hosts each year. Phase one of the plan included upgrading the team locker rooms with new flooring, lighting, lockers and bathroom renovations, as well as a quiet room for nursing mothers and individuals with sensory challenges. The recently completed phase two features a new entry way, a designated media room, redesigned and repaved parking lot and a new sidewalk. Design is officially underway on the third and final phase, with a full seating replacement in the stadium bowl being added to include a new club suite on the third baseline with associated seating, plus the addition of a new right outfield multi-tiered party deck.
