10 million contacts answered.   The 988 Lifeline has been launched for two years and the work is nothing short of lifesaving.   “Mental health crises often occur after-hours where a student may not know how to access help. By educating all students and printing 9-8-8 on campus IDs that are always within reach, we are providing a literal 24/7 lifeline to the one in five students who admit to contemplating suicide or the 1 in 4 that are experiencing a mental health issue. Goodwill answers those calls across the Finger Lakes’ region without judgment, and over 95% are resolved without involving law enforcement.” - Jen Lake, President & CEO, Goodwill of the Finger Lakes   211/LIFE LINE and 988 are two resources, accessible to everyone, that provide prevention and intervention by simply dialing a 3-digit number. Today our President & CEO Jennifer Lake, had the honor of hosting Congressman Joe Morelle, Representative of the 25th District of NYS. Congressman Morelle toured our manufacturing and contact center, meeting employees who work on our U.S. AbilityOne Commission contracts. These contracts include the EPA Lead & Toxic Substance hotlines, sewing United States Air Force IPTU pants, and other manufacturing lines that provide employment to individuals who are blind or visually impaired. At the end of his visit, Jen Lake presented him with an AbilityOne Champion Coin recognizing his contributions to supporting the AbilityOne program.
