We are pleased to announce New York State Assemblymember Andrew Hevesi, of the 28th Assembly District, in Queens, as our Keynote Speaker for the 2nd Good Call Breakfast Briefing. As a co-sponsor for the Right To Remain Silent Act, Hevesi has been an advocate for Criminal Justice Reform, passing legislation prohibiting the arrest and prosecution of any child under 12 years old, barring crimes of homicide, as well as trying to pass the Right To Remain Silent act, a piece of legislation that modifies the Family Court Act and Criminal Procedure Law to ensure that a child under age 18 may only be interrogated by law enforcement after consulting with counsel. Thank you NYS Assemblymember Hevesi for being our Keynote Speaker and for your advocacy.

Last Saturday, we tabled at Brooklyn Pride Festival where we gave nearly 3,000 cards with our hotline number. Tabling at these events is of importance to us, as it's important that we continue to support the LGBTQ community. We'll be at the next few Pride festivals including Bronx Pride Festival, Harlem Pride and Manhattan Pride. Come visit our table at the next few Pride Festivals!

Last fall, John Legend – Founder of freeamerica – met with #UnlockedFutures’ cohort of social entrepreneurs actively working to shift the narrative around those impacted by the criminal legal system. Together they envisioned what a more inclusive future would look like and how collaboration can get us there. We're excited to share highlights from this conversation during #SecondChanceMonth to raise awareness and change perceptions of people impacted by the criminal legal system. Read more about their conversation: https://lnkd.in/e7qhsgkU Launched in 2017, in collaboration with freeamerica and with support from Bank of America , Unlocked Futures supports organizations working to remove barriers to success for those affected by the criminal legal system.
