Update: 50 brands have now benefited from using our ads grader tool and self-diagnose issues in their ad accounts. For a vast majority of them the top three realisations are 1. They're concentrated on a few creatives for their ad performance 2. They aren't utilising all formats on Meta as much as their competitors are 3. They have a massive opportunity in improving their funnel on their website Some of these are obvious insights with not-so-obvious fixes, however for some brands (~10%) our report revealed something far more scary, Over 50% of their ROAS was being attributed on 1-day view attribution window! This essentially means, that the end customer never clicked on the Meta ad but purchased the product within 1 day of ad impressions. You’ll be surprised on how Meta counts impressions (E.g. for video ads, the video need not play to count an impression!) It really hurts to see that some bootstrapped brands have bled thousands of dollars on ads that aren't meaningfully adding to their top line. Use our ads grader tool today to find out if you have this issue. (Comment / DM me for link)

As Jeremy Horowitz' recently posted, creative testing on Meta Ads is the real needle mover for your ads performance. But it's crucial to test with intent, not just spray and pray. This means building on what you've learned from your previous ads—identifying what worked and what didn't. It also means ensuring that every creative you launch incorporates baseline best practices to avoid unnecessarily burning through your ad spend during creative testing. That's why we are building an AI-powered tool to analyze your ads (to be released as a free tool!). Just upload your ad (statics or videos) and voila! you'll get actionable insights on what's working and what isn’t. We're currently in closed beta testing and will be going public soon. Comment or DM if you'd like to be included in the closed beta testing!

"Your ad performance health check is ready to view" – those of you who run Meta ads might have received this email from Meta or will receive it soon. But, let’s be honest, Meta's suggestions are pretty basic. It just checks the pixel status, if CAPI is set up, and of course, suggests spending more on Advantage campaigns 🙄 . This email highlights a bigger issue: many brand owners aren’t sure about the state of their Meta Ad Accounts. We have encountered this sentiment innumerable times: "How does my performance stack up against my peers?" "What can I do to improve my ROAS?" "Am I spending correctly?" "What else can I/my team/my agency be doing?" And, let's face it, not everyone wants to do a PhD in Meta Ads to get these answers. Unfortunately, neither Meta nor other tools offer an easy way to get a comprehensive 'health' score. To solve this, we built an intuitive Ads Grader Tool. It provides a consolidated health score and breaks it down across 20 key metrics, benchmarking against a relevant peer set (same geography, category, and similar ad spend). Here’s a sneak peek of what’s coming in a few days! If you’re interested in early access or want to know more, comment below or DM me! #MetaAds #DigitalMarketing #AdsGrader

Are your Meta ads not performing as well as they used to? It might be time to dig into your creatives. A successful ad hinges on four key elements: - Reaching the right audience - At the optimal cost - In the best placement - With the most effective ad creative The hard work for the first three elements is increasingly being handled by the platforms themselves. Just take a look at the timeline of key features introduced by Meta: 2017: Automatic Placements (right place) 2018: Campaign Budget Optimization (CBO) (right cost) 2021: Conversions API (CAPI) (better data to answer questions) 2022: Advantage Shopping Campaigns (automates all three questions, including which product) 2023/2024: Advantage Audiences, Leads, and Sales Campaigns (automation for lead generation and not only conversion campaigns) This automation trend will only increase in a privacy-preserving world where detailed targeting is no longer possible (thanks to Apple's deprecation of user identifiers and the impending third-party cookie deprecation). With the heavy lifting for three out of four parameters being done by the algorithm, what truly remains in your control is the quality of your ad creative. In one of Meta's webinars conducted last year in May (Optimize Creative Strategies to Drive Business Results), they attributed 56% of ad auction outcomes to the ad creative. That's quite significant. So, how do you monitor your creatives? It’s crucial to have a strong handle on the performance of your top and worst-performing creatives in terms of metrics such as CPMs, CTRs, CPCs, and Conversion %. Beyond these metrics, it is also extremely important to understand your ad spend distribution across different formats. Different niches should allocate their spending to different formats. For example, catalog ads are fantastic for brands with a large number of SKUs, such as those in beauty and apparel, footwear, and supplements. A Marpipe report even stated that fashion and apparel brands had a 50% higher average ROAS when using catalog ads compared to traditional static or video ads last year. While everyone knows that cranking out great creatives is essential, knowing how to track and make data-driven decisions about your creative is even more important. We have an entire section focusing on metrics for ad creatives in the self-serve audit tool we've built. If you're interested in early access or want to know more, feel free to reach out! #MetaAds #DigitalMarketing #AdCreatives #DTC #CPM #CTR #CPC #ConversionRate #CatalogAds #ROAS #MarketingMetrics #CreativeOptimization #AdAudits

If you're a DTC owner who's currently IN the trough of sorrow, this post is for you. 🆕 You've been sold this story many times. A new agency or a freelancer audits your ad account, finds faults in the current approach, points to some obvious mistakes, shows authority and builds credibility by showing screenshots from other client accounts, makes promises on how they're going to fix everything and gets hired. 📉 Three months later , and you're running out of patience (and money). You get stuck in the loop of failing over and over on experiments. In between, Meta had a downtime or a bug which even though lasted for 1 hour, somehow impacted your ROAS for 3 weeks. 🚨 And then a day comes when your ROAS tanks by 90% - there's panic everywhere. Because you're a hardcore operator - you think it's your responsibility to be thorough and go deep. You start asking tough questions to your marketer. 🕵️♂️ And if you don't get convincing, confident answers from your marketer, deep inside you start blaming them for being incompetent. If it's an agency you give them an ultimatum and start looking for alternatives. After listening to the same false promises multiple times, you even consider hiring a senior marketer in-house as you fool yourself that 20% ROAS uplift will pay back the fixed costs. 🚫At the end of it - after some good months and some bad months, burning a few bridges with a few agencies and marketers you finally give up on Meta ads and write off the channel. If this is you, I take no responsibility for tearing you up. I won't pass you a tissue as well. Instead, let me offer you some comfort. In 90% of cases, your marketer isn't at fault. Their answers aren't convincing because that's just how marketing works! If YOU can't explain why did you buy a coffee machine that you DIDN'T NEED, but scrolled past four ads from fitness apps that you DO NEED, how can a digital marketer explain why a certain ad didn't work? 📈  Digital ads are NOT a closed system - and like other open systems (e.g., the stock market) - first principles don't apply. 🔍 Your job as a DTC owner doesn't end at asking the right questions, in fact, that's where it starts - you will have to go on a journey along with your marketing team to go deep into data and find the answers. That's where there is good news. Meta is a tech company in a competitive environment - it pushes them to be transparent and share data. There's a lot of data available inside your ads manager to sift through and analyse. And there are a lot of opportunities to discover. 🚀🛠️ This is where we come in - We're soon launching a free Meta Ads Grader tool, that connects to your ad account and give you opportunities to improve your ads. This is not a reporting tool, but a powerful tool to find insights from your ad account that you didn't know you could act upon. DM me for early access, or share this post with DTC brands you know who could benefit from such a free tool! ✌️

What we figured from analyzing countless ad accounts across geographies. For the past few months, we at GoMarble AI have been elbow-deep in Facebook Ads account audits – diving into data for countless brands across the US and India. It's been a fascinating journey, revealing both brilliant campaigns and common pitfalls (will share those learnings soon in subsequent posts!). Over the multiple accounts, we refined our auditing approach. We initially started with heuristics, then developed playbooks taking into account variations in category, geography, ad-spend levels and AOV, leading to a much more data-driven and scientific approach. That's when the lightbulb moment struck – why not turn this expertise into a tool everyone can use? We have so many SEO/PageSpeed audit tools, but there's no good Facebook Ads audit tool like this. Swapnil Bari and his team took on the challenge head-on and, as expected, did a spectacular job. We're in the final stages of ironing out the product but have provided 10 partner brands early access. If you're interested in early access or just want to know more, do DM Palkush Chawla or me; or comment here!
