As ceramic membranes become mainstream, the size of installations is increasing quickly. Charlie Walker explores the trends. Full article and more #waternews here: https://lnkd.in/ecSGctYS
The number of ceramic MF/UF membrane projects over 100,000m3/d either operating or awarded has doubled in five years. Global Water Intelligence (GWI) has put together the current twenty largest plants and the crown for the largest reference is going to change hands in the coming years. Drinking water plants – especially in Singapore and the UK - still dominate but large references for other applications have been appearing recently. PWNT and METAWATER Co., Ltd appear often but CERAFILTEC has probably made the biggest splash recently. Cembrane has just secured the largest reference in the US. The ceramic membrane provider which will have the world's largest installation by 2026 is actually none of the above... 👇 Access the list here and let us know your thoughts: https://lnkd.in/ektP-KBv Image source: PWNT #ceramicmembranes #ceramics #waterfiltration #watertechnology

♻️ Royal HaskoningDHV has announced it is to implement a biopolymer recovery plant at a UK water utility site - the first of its size in the country. ♻️ I had a great chat about the project with Paul Lavender at Royal HaskoningDHV and Richard Clarke at United Utilities. We also discussed efforts to build a market for the produced biopolymer, something that historically has been difficult for recycled goods. Thank you both, a really interesting discussion. Filtration product providers are exploiting markets such as #waterreuse and nutrient removal. Some now see #micropollutants removal and wet weather treatment as ripe for disruption. Kelly Thompson investigates in this month's market map. 🗺 The war on nutrients in effluent and phosphorus discharge, and the growing interest in water reuse projects, are pushing the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for tertiary wastewater filtration. Applications like micropollutant removal have become market drivers for tertiary filtration, with microplastics also increasingly rising up the agenda. Vendors are seeing demand for the installation of non-membrane filtration technologies for wet weather flows. The flexibility of some products on the market for use as peak flow management is the key to success for these products. More market insights and the latest #waternews: https://lnkd.in/gD_9VSm4

Decades of continuous innovation has helped #reverseosmosis and #nanofiltration technologies become go-to solutions for filtration and separation. More recently, these proven technologies have been leveraged for emerging markets and applications—enabling reuse and resource recovery for customers and communities around the world. In the latest article by DuPont Water Solutions, we explore the history of FilmTec reverse osmosis and nanofiltration membranes – from early development and commercialization to the current award-winning innovations, a few to name: - FilmTec LiNE-XD elements, used to help increase access to lithium beyond conventional rock mining and tap into resources such as salt lake brine, geothermal brine, and surface and sub-surface clay—supporting global momentum towards electrification and decarbonization. - Minimal Liquid Discharge (MLD), where RO or NF membrane filtration can be used within solutions that achieve up to 95% liquid discharge recovery at a fraction of the cost and energy footprint of conventional Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems. Check out the article to learn how FilmTec reverse osmosis and nanofiltration membrane elements continue to pioneer innovations that are designed to help meet the world’s growing water and energy demands: https://lnkd.in/e9Q6PQH4
