  • How to #step as a country and a #youngprofessional into world of #newenergy, in the complexities of #GlobalNorth and #Global South? This week, we are joined by Stefanie Busch. Stefanie is a young energy lawyer for a leading African #lawfirm ENS in #Namibia. A country that recently uncovered its potential both in green Hydrogen and fossil energy. We discuss how Stefanie stepped in few years from a floor of World Hydrogen Leaders congress in Rotterdam, onto the Parliament floor of Namibia to describe potential legal gaps of the Hydrogen act. She stresses importance of education for fostering the balance of local economy, and how local government is creating a Hydrogen academy sending its citizens to study on scholarships. We cover how to get Hydrogen projects off the ground, including needed and welcomed support of countries like Germany, Netherlands and Belgium, reinforcing a good balance of local and global industries – starting with smaller scale development, paired with bigger infrastructure like ports. In a beautiful calm Stefanie’s voice, one can hear confidence that Namibian energy economy will rise. Listen to the full episode now to find out more including Coffee machine thoughts! We are thrilled to announce the successful industrial-scale production of an aluminium slab using hydrogen combustion at our C-TEC R&D center! This is the first time worldwide that hydrogen is being used to cast a 12-ton aluminium slab, and a milestone to demonstrate that hydrogen can be a substitute for natural gas for industrial applications. This slab is now being sent to our Neuf-Brisach facility where it will be used to manufacture value-added aluminium automotive solutions, including for the electric vehicle market. We continue to pave the way towards a sustainable and circular economy! #Sustainability #Decarbonization #Hydrogen 📸 Franck Ardito More information here: https://ow.ly/GKJ350SBhfi

Decarbonization is the Goal – How Can We Achieve It and What Role Can PRISMA Play? 🤔 Our Managing Director, Goetz Lincke, tackled these vital questions in the podcast Global Tales of Carbon Transition, hosted by Oghosa Erhahon, Joachim von Scheele, and Erik Rakhou. Here are some key takeaways: 💡 Efficiency & CO2 Reduction: #PRISMA is already cutting overhead costs and reducing #CO2 emissions by optimizing transport routes. It's all about creating faster, smoother, and more efficient processes that benefit both the environment and businesses. 🤝🏽 Trust & Neutrality: Götz highlighted the importance of neutrality in managing platforms like PRISMA. With no commercial interest in the deals facilitated, PRISMA ensures #transparency and trust, which are crucial for advancing decarbonization efforts. 🌍 Global Collaboration: PRISMA's platform fosters global partnerships, matching organizations from North Africa, North America, and Europe to work together towards a sustainable future. 🌱 For a Greener Future: With #AggregateEU, PRISMA developed a matching mechanism for the EU Energy Platform, initially focused on natural gas and LNG. This expertise can now be extended to #hydrogen and other innovative energy solutions. Götz's vision is clear: By leveraging PRISMA’s infrastructure, we can bridge gaps and create a greener, more sustainable world. Curious to learn more? • How to connect #green and #fossilworld? Via #CCS, #carbon #capture #storage. Learn from this week episode, where we are joined by Syrie Crouch. Until recently, Syrie was the Vice President for Carbon Capture and Storage at Shell; now she is the CEO at Xiron Global, and Board advisor to Climeworks and Nuada Syrie takes us along a journey, she embarked on to bring a sustainable energy transition closer - she brings up for dialogue that we need a tool to hold carbon, as we build renewable system in parallel. She challenges listeners to help find carbon capture scaling anchors to develop this nascent global decarbonisation tool!! Tell us about who you think should be the customers of CCS, that you know like steel or cement companies to lead the way. Out of minimal 3 GT/y needs we have only scratched service with working 15 MT/y projects. An example of insights one can learn from listening to dialogue with Syrie in the podcast: 1. #HugeCCSNeed: We need to capture 3 to 18 gigatons of CO2 yearly by 2050, similar to building a whole new oil and gas industry. That's massive! 2. #CurrentCCSReality: Right now, we're only capturing 15 million tons of CO2 per year. We need to scale up fast. 3. #RenewableEmissions: Making renewables like wind and solar still produces CO2. For example, building one windmill uses 300 tons of steel and a ton of copper wire, which creates emissions. 4. #NegativeEmissionsWithBiofuels: Using CCS with biofuels can capture more CO2 than it emits. This creates valuable carbon credits to balance out other emissions. 5. #PoliciesPushingChangeGlobally: Carbon border taxes in Europe and the UK are making other countries invest in decarbonization to stay competitive. 6. #GrowingAwareness: More people now get how serious climate change is. It's a big topic in public and industry conversations more and more - this places CCS and CCUS at center of action going forward; we need it. 7. #FossilFuelsImpactGlobally: Fossil fuels have driven progress for 200 years, boosting growth and healthcare. 15 liters fossil fuel equal 1 man year of manual effort. Switching to new energy systems won't be quick or easy - we need new ways of engineering growth, CCS is part of the toolbox - not the only one!
