It is a week since the Global Leadership Exchange #GLE2024 took place in #Utrecht. The days since have provided an opportunity for me to reflect on the #leadershipexchange and the sense of connection it created. #GLE2024 was our first international in-person gathering since 2019. I experienced a tangible excitement among those attending about the chance to see friends and colleagues face to face after a lengthy period of only online meeting. I felt the vibrancy of an atmosphere of curiosity, eagerness to share, learn and to be part of a community of #leaders. I was delighted to meet so many of you. I was especially proud that the members of our #livedexperience council were not only present, but participating in numerous ways. Our commitment to a deeper and meaningful engagement with #youth and #youngpeople, those with #disability both #physical or #developmental and to those from #equity seeking groups was demonstrable in those who were attending, speaking and in the planning of the event. We were privileged to host Queen Maxima. She took a lot from the plenary she attended but also the meetings she had with country representatives. Her decision not to make a speech, but to let the voices and work of #youngpeople #women and those with #livedexperience to be prominent was in keeping with her commitment to enabling others to have a voice. 🌟 2 days 👥 500 participants 🌍 17 nationalities I was honoured to co-host the Global Leadership Exchange alongside the incredible Hans Kroon! Over two dynamic days, leaders of all ages and backgrounds came together to share valuable insights and experiences on mental health, substance abuse, and disability. Our shared vision was clear: to lead change for flourishing communities and well-being for all. While the keynotes provided us with great insights, the real magic happened during the networking sessions where new connections were made and action plans were laid out. The inspiration and energy in the room were through the roof, and it was an incredible event to be part of! Even her Majesty Queen Máxima graced us with her presence and enthusiasm! A heartfelt thank you to everyone at the Dutch International Mental Health Hub, as well as Sean Russell, Kathy Langlois and Steve Appleton! #GLE2024
