Outstanding session at Plato Elevate this morning led by Maria Zhang on thoughtful elastic budgeting strategies for dev teams looking to increase engineering capacity. We found her learnings to be critical to the success of maintaining optimal velocity for your most impactful projects and priorities. We're lucky to have her join our board and look forward to amplifying this approach to capacity planning! ⚙️ #plato #platoelevate #sanfrancisco

As Day 1 at Plato Elevate comes to a close, we're excited to look back at some of the day's best highlights. We started with an informative session led by Maria Zhang on increasing engineering elasticity to maximize velocity on your most impactful projects, but the fun didn't stop there. We enjoyed learning more about how others are exploring similar pathways with a strong workshop from Navneet Rao of Thumbtack on their push to accelerate experimentation velocity. Vivek Ravisankar of HackerRank shared a bit about the way generative AI is changing the way we hire developers, which was in line with what we'd heard from others. Suddenly, a trend began to emerge. We took a quick lunch break and got right back to the action with a powerful session led by Madhav Nair, CTO of Employ, on the importance of instilling confidence in junior devs by giving them a seat at the table regarding decision-making early in their careers. We popped in for Thenewclub's fireside chat before heading over to hear J. Stefan Crespo-Donaire, MBA, PSM I's chat on the art of scalable billing. We finished Day 1 off with a strong keynote from David Singleton of Stripe on the future of developer experience. It was an awesome day, and we can't wait for what's in store for Day 2. Come see us on the 4th floor - we'd love to connect! #sanfrancisco #plato #elevate

President & CEO at UBX | Digitally Transforming Businesses with the Philippines' Leading Open & Embedded Finance Platform

The Agile Manifesto was signed over 23 years ago! Agile is not new. Agile is already a legacy practice. A quarter century ago, Agile emerged as a better way of building software. Making software development work visible. Small, empowered and self-organizing teams, with team incentives. Instead of launching in months or years: deliver often, measure, learn and adjust. You land a project like you land a plane on a windy day. Enterprises want digital transformation, they want to be agile. But they are still using Gantt charts to manage projects. They have trouble changing ways of working and landing digital projects. Agile becomes a methodology vs. a mindset and the simple set of principles it was meant to be. At UBX we are disrupting the disruption. We actively collaborate with software development innovators like Hamza Z. at GitStart (Y Combinator class of 2019). For UBX, digital development isn't just a capability, it's a platform! Fun fact: Gantt charts were developed by the US Military in 1910! People are managing digital age projects with 100 year old management practices! Not quite sure applications of it's use (like WW1) were ever screaming successes!

According to Peer Richelsen, Cal.com's Cofounder and Co-CEO: "Dates and timezone logics are crazy hard. It’s hard to put in hours how much time GitStart saved us, but a lot. And a lot of peace of mind. Our core engineering team can work on hard and important tasks." We love Cal.com, so we had to write a case study with them. You can read it on GitStart's blog... or see our PRs directly on their open-source repo! 🌟

“How I went from sewing to engineering as an Afghan Woman 👩🔧➡️👩💻” 1. Age 14, Wajiha works in a tailoring workshop to afford a computer 2. Age 18, despite financial hardships forcing her back into the workshop 👩🔧, she aces the university entry exam 3. After university, Wajiha struggles to find a job due to sexism 4. Age 23, she joins GitStart and becomes her family’s breadwinner 🚀 In her own words: “Many women around me have lost faith in having a career because we’re gradually losing our rights, from getting banned from universities to not being able to ride public transport alone. I’m sharing my story to provide hope to those in similar or worse situations. Do you know women who should read this story? 🧕” Read her incredible story on GitStart's blog.
