About us
We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.

“Everywhere we look, society is telling girls that they aren’t good enough. At its core, Girls on the Run is about combatting those messages, giving young girls the tools they need to lead joyful, healthy, and confident lives.” Cyndi Roy Gonzalez Thank you to Coach Hannah for sharing her experience as a volunteer this spring and helping us relive the 5K magic! And thank you Teak Media Communication for providing your employees with an opportunity to serve their community! Transform yourself and the life of girls in your community by becoming a coach for our upcoming fall season. Learn more and sign up here: https://lnkd.in/eYy7KBZS
Our Account Director Hannah volunteered as a coach with Girls on the Run Greater Boston this past spring. The program, which met twice a week for two months with 15 girls in grades three through five, teaches the girls lessons that combine the physical activity of running with essential life skills like building friendships, managing emotions, and expressing empathy. Hannah expected to learn a lot about how nonprofits function from an insider perspective– and she did– but what she wasn't prepared for was that volunteering with GOTR helped her to grow and learn right along with the girls. We're thrilled to announce we received a new grant from the Women's Foundation of Boston to fuel our work in serving more girls across Eastern Massachusetts. Investing in women and girls has long-term positive returns across generations and throughout communities. This three-year $165,000 grant will be used to increase the number of girls served in low-income communities in Lawrence, Brockton, Boston, Revere, Salem, and Haverhill. Thank you to the Foundation for their continued support!
