We want to give a big shout-out to our Giant Food associates who volunteered at the The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore last week! Everyone worked hard to complete all the tasks, including trash pickup along the roads and entrance, moving heavy tables and chairs, and sorting through a massive amount of tasting cups for the zoo's OktoBEARfest event, which featured unlimited sampling of seasonal brews, admission to the zoo, and more.    Giant continues to work towards being a Better Neighbor in our communities, and we're always ready to lend a hand to support our community! #Volunteering #CommunityImpact #MarylandZoo 

Last week, Giant Food proudly kicked off our annual "Lend a Hand for Hunger" campaign, supporting five local Feeding America® food banks — Capital Area Food Bank, Maryland Food Bank, Food Bank of Delaware, Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank, and Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. This year, we're raising funds and bringing back our in-store food drives to collect nonperishable goods to support our neighbors in need. We are beyond excited to share the remarkable success of our Pediatric Cancer Campaign this year. Thanks to the incredible support from our customers, community, and the entire Giant Food family, we raised $1,686,338.42, which brings us to over $34 million since 2005 in support of pediatric cancer research! Our partnership with Johns Hopkins and The Children’s Cancer Foundation Inc. ensures that every dollar raised goes towards research and support for children battling cancer. We would like to give a special shoutout to our 2024 Pediatric Cancer Ambassadors, Riley, Kori, Lilly, and their families, for their support! At Giant Food, we pride ourselves on being a Better Neighbor, and this campaign exemplifies the strength of our commitment to the communities we serve. On October 2nd, Giant Food had the honor of hosting a special event in partnership with Montgomery County officials, Novavax, and community leaders to promote the importance of immunizations.     During the event at one of our stores in Silver Spring, Maryland, County Executive Marc Elrich, County Councilmember Kristin Mink, Novavax employees, and other community partners gathered to announce the availability of the FDA-approved 2024-2025 Novavax COVID-19 vaccine. We were proud to administer flu and COVID-19 vaccinations to about 30 Montgomery County officials and Novavax employees, showcasing our commitment to the health and well-being of our community.    At Giant Food, we believe that access to quality healthcare is essential for building a healthier and safer community for all! 

Exciting news! Today, we are celebrating the grand reopening of our store in Abingdon, Maryland at 3299 Emmorton Road! The remodeled location offers an updated shopping experience for our customers with a wide range of amenities, including our Giant Pharmacy, full-service meat and seafood departments, a gourmet cheese selection, expansive prepared food offerings, Ledo Pizza Corner Shoppe, freshly made sushi, and even a Starbucks.    We highlighted three amazing associates who went above and beyond during the store's improvement process! We can't wait to welcome all of our customers to their newly remodeled store in Abingdon, MD! #GrandOpening #GrandReopening 

In July, we launched our month-long, Nourishing Our Youth fundraising campaign to support food programs at local public school districts! Over the last few weeks, we presented the donations to the school at our local stores. With customer support, the campaign raised $349,272.40 for 31 school districts in our region! 100 percent of the proceeds raised were donated to the local school districts to use the funds to best serve their community and support meal programs like covering student meal debt, building on-campus food pantries, or increasing access to meals by serving free breakfast and lunch daily to students. 

Inspired by her spirited great grandmother, Emily's Cinnamon Noodle Kugel is a sweet reminder of the love and cherished memories that food can hold in our hearts.
