In case you missed it, Google announced that it won't be deprecating third party cookies after all. Here's what it means for you: If you're a D2C eComm brand, not much. Chances are that the vast majority of your traffic is on some type of Safari or Webkit browser (ex. iPhone traffic). Third party cookies have been deprecated in these browsers for 4 years now. To me this is yet another signal that much of the privacy opt-ins/outs will move away from individual websites controlling (and trying to keep up) directly to browsers. If done correctly this should be a much better UX for the consumer.

Google won't be killing third-party cookies after all, the company announced in a blog post on Monday. "Instead of deprecating third-party cookies, we would introduce a new experience in Chrome that lets people make an informed choice that applies across their web browsing, and they’d be able to adjust that choice at any time."
