More big German-American news in the electric vehicle industry! 🚛⚡ Daimler Truck AG and its partners have begun construction on a new battery cell factory in Byhalia, Mississippi. The facility is set to produce 21 gigawatt hours annually, enough to power up to 35,000 electric trucks. On top of that, the factory will also be generating over 2,000 jobs. The plant will initially produce lithium iron phosphate batteries for use in battery-electric commercial vehicles, beginning in 2027. The venture, Amplify Cell Technologies, is a collaboration between Daimler Truck, Accelera (a Cummins Inc. division), PACCAR, and EVE Energy. This initiative marks a significant step towards sustainable transportation. #ElectricVehicles

The NATO Summit in Washington kicks off tomorrow! 🗓️ This year marks 75 years of NATO. In celebration of the anniversary, here are some snapshots from Germany's accession to NATO in 1955. A lot has changed since then, but Germany's dedication to bolstering our collective defense has only grown stronger. Germany spends more than 2% of GDP on defense, will permanently deploy a German brigade to Lithuania, and is Ukraine’s second biggest military and humanitarian donor - prime examples of our unwavering commitment. At the #NATOSummit this week, we'll be looking toward the future. Specifically, the focus of the summit will be on #Ukraine and transatlantic security. NATO representatives and top experts will also discuss the response to escalating global threats to peace and democracy. #1NATO75years

Thank you Julia-Alexandra Ackermann, it was great working with you and we wish you all the best! As diplomats say: you always meet twice 😉
About two months ago, I joined the press department at the Embassy of Germany in Washington, D.C. 🇺🇸 During my internship, my tasks ranged from writing media analysis reports and creating social media content to organizing and accompanying the visits of dignitaries like ministers Boris Pistorius and Christian Lindner. Not two days were the same. Working at the Embassy, I not only deepened my understanding of US politics and society, but also gained valuable insights on how (German) diplomacy works. However, perhaps the best part of my internship was the amazing people I got to work with. Thank you for welcoming me into your team and thank you for giving me the opportunity to take responsibility. Thank you for fun brainstorming sessions and valuable conversations. I hope this is not good bye, but see you soon!

Just a few days to go until the #NATO Summit kicks off in Washington, DC. In a speech on Monday, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock gave an update on Germany's National Security Strategy after one year. Not only has the European pillar of NATO been further strengthened. Germany’s “responsibility as the strongest country within the European Union has also increased”, the Minister said. Germany now invests more than 2% of its GDP in defense. What’s more, we have launched the European Sky Shield initiative and we are transferring a brigade to Lithuania, which borders Russia. The Minister also laid out how incidents in the last few months have highlighted Germany's vulnerability to novel security threats, from cyber-attacks to natural disasters. These events underscore the importance of Germany's National Security Strategy, which focuses on enhancing resilience and preparedness through integrated efforts across all levels of government and society. The goal is to ensure a robust response to emerging threats and safeguard our democratic values and infrastructure. 🛡️ Read the full speech here: https://lnkd.in/eSjMpfs9

For the first time since 2017, the Congressional Study Group on Germany (CSGG) facilitated a #transatlantic parliamentary exchange, sending a delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives to Germany. 🇺🇲🇩🇪 The CSGG, implemented by FMC (Association of Former Members of Congress), has fostered close ties between U.S. Members of Congress and Germany for over 30 years. The #exchange enables Deutscher Bundestag members to come to the U.S. and learn about its electoral system and culture, while US Congress members travel to Germany to better understand the nation and its role in Europe. On Monday, Rep. Deborah Ross, Rep. Keith Self, Rep. Ed Case, Rep. Brendan Boyle, and Rep. August Pfluger met with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock to discuss key issues pertaining to the transatlantic relationship, like the Russian aggression in #Ukraine and the #Gaza conflict.

The European Soccer Championship in Germany, the Olympic Games in France, the Copa America in the U.S. - it’s a summer of major sporting events. How can nations leverage the spotlight of such events for good? How does hosting a major sporting event impact a nation’s priorities? Today, we hosted a conversation about the political and social power of sports, together with @EUintheUS. And of course we combined it with a watch party, cheering for Germany, Denmark, Switzerland and Italy in the round of 16! #EURO2024
