Hurricane Helene Update: From The Bucket. Our crews are continuing to work through the first day of restoration following the devastating effects of #Helene. We are continuing to bring more resources from outside of our system and currently have 14,000 personnel engaged in response - more than many other major hurricanes. So far, we have managed to restore over 250,000 customers, and are continuing to work across the state navigating flooded/closed roads and the conditions. There are updated estimated restoration times available on our outage map for multiple communities across Georgia. Additional evaluation is occurring as areas are accessible across southern, coastal and eastern Georgia, where communities experienced hurricane force winds leading to extensive damage. New ERTs will be posted to our Outage Map as they are available.   Please visit georgiapower.com/storm for more information. Thank you and please stay safe.

Since conditions became safe to enter the field, our crews have been working around the clock to restore power in the wake of Hurricane Helene – the most destructive hurricane in the Georgia Power’s history. As of Tuesday afternoon, we have grown our storm response to 20,000 personnel and have restored over 1 million customers. We currently still have approximately 278,000 customers without power- and we are not slowing down our response. We will have boots on the ground, and in the bucket, working all hands on deck to get the power restored. We are grateful of your support during this time and are proud to serve Georgians.

When we say that every resource is deployed- we are talking about line crews, mutual assistance, fleet crews, damage assessors, logistics, drone pilots, helicopters, and every member of our team. We utilize helicopters to assess damage, clear debris, and cut tress. This tool is used to help clear transmission lines, some of which were damaged by the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene. Our team is boots on the ground, in the bucket, and in the sky working around the clock to get your lights on.

It’s Monday morning and as the sun comes up our crews are still working. Our multiday restoration efforts continued overnight across the state after #Helene caused catastrophic damage. Historic flooding, downed trees and road closures are impeding efforts to restore power – particularly in South Georgia and Augusta, where outages are most prevalent. Through the work of mutual assistance crews, our team members who are in personal cars getting from A to B, and hard at work line crews, know that even if you do not see our logo, we are still at work in your area. We are continuing to work around the clock to restore power for our customers quickly and safely. For the latest on our restoration efforts, visit georgiapower.com/storm. Please continue to stay safe and thank you.

As more than 14,000 personnel continue to work across the state, they are facing extremely challenging conditions. From flooded roads, to fallen trees, and bridges that require inspection by the state following damage, these obstacles make travel difficult. Our crews are working with local DOT and Public Works crews to help clear the roads on their path to repair Georgia Power infrastructure. We are continuing to work around the clock to restore power for our customers quickly and safely. For the latest on our restoration efforts, visit georgiapower.com/storm. Please continue to stay safe and thank you.

⚠️ Update on Estimated Restoration Times ⚠️ As of Saturday evening, Georgia Power has restored power to 520,000 customers following the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene. Our crews continue to navigate treacherous conditions including extensive tree damage, widespread flooding and many road closures. As the first full day of restoration progressed today, we have determined that Hurricane Helene was the most destructive hurricane in Georgia Power history, damaging infrastructure across the state. We also understand the importance of Estimated Restoration Times (ERTs) for you and your families - we have been working as quickly as possible to generate timelines and keep you informed. These ERTs are not a guess, but represent the most accurate estimate that we can make based on our in the field assessments. We will make every effort to beat these estimates and return power sooner than expected. New ERTs are now available for areas including Athens, Augusta, Brunswick, Clayton, Cornelia, Dublin, Gainesville, Hartwell, Hinesville, Macon, Madison, Milledgeville, Savannah, Springfield, Statesboro, Thomson, Tifton, Valdosta, Vidalia, Waycross and Waynesboro. ERTs represent the company’s expectation for 95% power restoration in the specified area. As we anticipated and announced before the arrival of the storm, restoration efforts will take multiple days into this next week. We know extended outages are inconvenient, and we truly appreciate your understanding as thousands of our team members work around the clock. Please visit our Outage Map for the latest update on our restoration process, including ERTs. We will continue to update the Outage Map, and our customers on social.
