Corals are not only in crisis due to disease and warming ocean temps, they're confiscated at ports at even higher numbers than we've seen before. Georgia Aquarium, the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Wildlife Confiscations Network, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), are working to provide safe homes to animals once they are confiscated - and to get them to those homes as quickly as possible for immediate, and sometimes, life-saving care. Since 2010, Georgia Aquarium has cared for close to 1,000 displaced animals - with nearly half being corals. Check out The New York Times on how zoos, aquariums, and agencies are partnering to save corals: https://lnkd.in/db3--nkn

It is intrinsic to our value system to help animals in need anywhere; even those in the path of danger. It was a huge honor to work with Oceanogràfic València, SeaWorld, Shedd Aquarium, and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums on this daring rescue mission to get these two beluga whales out of war-torn Ukraine to safety in Spain. Their journey would not have been possible without the expertise, dedication, and tenacity of all those involved. To learn more, read here: https://lnkd.in/eEhfDvHY
