𝗜𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿, 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗰𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲! Did you know that using the wrong antiscalant can INCREASE the risk of calcium phosphate scaling? For example, if sodium hexametaphophate is dosed, it can hydrolyse in the dosing tank, increasing the concentration of free phosphate in the RO feed water and hence increasing the risk of scaling calcium phosphate. Specialty antiscalants such as Genesys PHO are specifically blended to control calcium phosphate scaling without any risk of being hydrolysed into free phosphate. Calcium phosphate can usually be removed by acidic cleaning conditions. However, attention should be paid to iron and aluminium phosphate salts, which are generally less soluble at low pH.
