We're thrilled to be able to showcase this awesome 74,000 sq ft project in Fremont that wrapped late last year. The building was split lengthwise separating the front-of-house and open office areas from the research areas and labs. Construction included new MEP, walls and ceilings, while integrating a BESS/microgrid system that allows for capturing discharged energy for later use. Almost half of the building is dedicated to research and development lab space. To culminate our Oakland Public Education Fund mentorship program, two bright interns from Fremont High School were invited to join us and learn more about various careers in construction, and explore different avenues they can pursue post graduation. It has truly been a pleasure to have Angel and Kevin joining us this month. On top of shadowing various departments in the office including the sustainability, marketing, safety, and estimating teams, they also had the opportunity to visit in-progress job sites with the project teams, talk with our trade partner CBF Electric & Data and explore Downtown San Francisco. We're sad their time with us has come to end, but simultaneously excited to see where their next steps take them. Thank you, Kevin and Angel, for your time and dedication! We look forward to staying in touch, and collaborating with the Oakland Public Education Fund and Fremont High School again next year!

What a great turnout for our June hike! The beautiful weather helped get us outside for a mid-day walk, leaving us feeling refreshed for a productive afternoon. Our route was up the Vallejo Street stairs to jaunt around historical North Beach, and we even spent some time with the seals down at Pier 39. 10/10 recommend a walk outside to break up your work day, and even better with good people to share it with! Do you have a favorite short walk around your office? Feel free to share your spot below!

We're always happy to share a finished space that focuses on sustainability and wellness. This 3.5 floor build-out for a downtown confidential client received both LEED Platinum and WELL Silver Certification! Decreasing the footprint of our cities and supporting the wellness of occupants is important to us and it's rewarding to know that we are working with project teams that prioritize making it a reality. Thank you to this client and entire project team that helped bring this space to life. Architect: HOK Construction Manager: VVA Project & Cost Managers 📸 David Wakely JR Construction Co. This year, in partnership with GCI General Contractors, the Ed Fund piloted a new program called ConstructionLink to prepare students for exciting and lucrative careers in the construction and trades industries. GCI employees volunteered as ongoing mentors to nearly 30 Fremont High students in the Architecture Academy. Additionally, students attended lectures around construction careers, participated in hands-on activities, and took amazing field trips to live construction sites. Thank you to GCI General Contractors for sponsoring and participating in this first year of the program. We are excited to continue helping students navigate the transition from high school to their post secondary life!

One of the many reasons we appreciate working with the California Academy of Sciences is our shared passion and respect for the environment. GCI partnered with our friends at CalAcademy by taking elements of the previous display and repurposing them for this exhibit relaunch. _ Check out this article from our other client, KQED, highlighting the celebration of our stunning state. “(California) is filled with incredible nature, and we as humans can help protect and make California healthier and thrive going forward.” – Paige (Bardolph) Laduzinsky, Senior Exhibit Content Developer https://lnkd.in/gxQZpVdE Patrick Revetta | Chris Figone | Brian Lundberg | Juan Cabrera | Justin Baker | Roy Herder
