We are excited to announce the first collaboration event between USGBC, GBCI MENA, and the Morocco Green Building Council (MGBC) in Morocco on June 7th, 2024, at the LEED-Certified Campus of the UM6P - Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Rabat.   Many thanks to the Morocco GBC team, led by Ms. Nawale SAOUD 💡🏗️🌍 President of Morocco GBC, Ms. Wiam Samir 🌍, CEO of Sustainway, Mr. Zakaria SADIK, President of Alto Eko, Mr. Salim El Kohen, Manager of Deloitte Sustainability, Zeineb Alaoui Hassani, Bank Attijariwafa, and Taha yassine Samir, Sustainway, for hosting U.S. Green Building Council & Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), represented by Ms. Deepthy K B, Regional Director of GBCI MENA.   Kindly hosted by the UM6P university, the event commenced with a guided tour of the magnificent campus. We were honored to have the participation of numerous esteemed experts in the fields of Sustainability, Architecture, and Technology. Their insights and contributions during the panel discussions were instrumental in shaping the discourse on 'Building a Resilient and Sustainable Future: Integration of SDGs and Sustainable Materials in Urban and Architectural Design' and 'Financing the Future: Taxonomies and Green Financing in Construction'.   To acknowledge the University's efforts in providing healthy, fair, and sustainable work-study facilities and residences for students and staff, a LEED Certification ceremony was held for the 15 LEED Projects totaling 1.36 million square feet of LEED Certified space. LEED v5 will champion solutions aligning the built environment with critical imperatives, including decarbonization, ecosystem conservation and restoration, equity, health, and resilience.

GBCI MENA proudly recognized the "Jameel Square" project in Jeddah, KSA for achieving LEED v4.1 O M Gold Certification. Ms. Deepthy K B, Regional Director of GBCI MENA, was invited to the ceremony. The project's LEED Certification reflects its strong commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices. Their success is attributed to an integrated approach involving the client, tenants, LEED Consultant, and Facilities Management team working together to achieve the LEED milestone.
