Fewer meetings. More casual conversations. Less time where engineers feel blocked, and more time where people feel aligned, engaged, and connected. Gather has helped the Beatport Engineering team reshape their distributed culture. They’ve canceled standing meetings and saved weeks of work from impromptu conversations. And engineers feel truly connected to the organization for the first time in years.
Thank you Morgan Soley for sharing your story with us.

    Director of Engineering at Beatport

Beatport engineering went 100% remote early in the pandemic. By the time things settled, remote work for us was permanent. Earlier this year I evaluated a few “virtual office” platforms and a few months in I can say Gather has been a huge level-up to our engineering culture. As a technical tool you'll find it a drop-in replacement to Google Hangouts or Zoom or whatever, with easy calendar integrations and features like whiteboards, and multiple screen-share for pair programming etc. But what we also found was that it provides an atmosphere. A space where people can express themselves and interact with each other outside of formal work channels. A place where we can create a shared perception of what Beatport is and what we’re trying to accomplish. For managers, there’s an incredible amount of information presented in a virtual office that can change your game. You can see interactions between people. You can have quick casual conversations. You can build processes and rituals that you and your people love. Alignment and engagement is suddenly less laborious, more natural, and doesn't require meetings. For us this all came together to help our team become more productive and engaged. Our eng team is moving faster after canceling previously scheduled meetings. Refreshingly, 35% of our conversations in Gather are less than 10 minutes. Remote work is a funny thing. Maybe you or your company has railed against it, but it has always appealed to me. There is so much flexibility to build your own environment and norms. Everything except the work itself becomes like an optional add-on - building blocks that you can choose for your people, or not. If you're building teams in today's remote & hybrid world, Gather is truly the best of a physical office, brought online.

Director of Engineering at Guidance Analytics

Over the past few weeks, I've implemented gather.town at Guidance Analytics for our team. While it's still early days, the results have already been very promising and exciting. Moving from Zoom, where interactions were confined to scheduled sessions, this has revolutionized our daily connections. Now, it’s like walking through a real office: team members bump into each other walking around the office, linger to chat after formal meetings, and spontaneously join or start discussions as they 'pass by' desks. This dynamic has brought to life a natural flow of conversation and collaboration, mirroring the organic interactions you'd find in a physical workspace. It's as close to real life as you can get without being in the same room. This shift has enhanced our teamwork and promoted a more social atmosphere. We're seeing increased spontaneity in collaborations, crucial for a startup where agility and quick pivots are part of the everyday. Reflecting on these changes, I've realized that while technology is a powerful tool, the core of effective management is really about how people work together. Creating an environment where team members are excited to log on and engage with each other is as important as any system or process we develop. #leadership #engineering #remoteWork #teamwork #startupculture #GatherTown

🌐 Global Team, One Virtual Office: Our Experience with Gather 🌐 Working from different countries presented challenges for our team's connection and culture. Then, we found Gather. It's not our creation, but the way it has transformed our teamwork deserves a shout-out. In this virtual space, avatars make real connections, collaborate, and celebrate, just like in a physical space. We can walk up to colleague's desk to initiate a quick chat, plan a meeting in a virtual conference room, or even visit the kitchen for some small talk, making it more than just a tool by mirroring real office life. It also helps newcomers adapt to the new environment faster. It's about more than just work: it's about celebrating, connecting, and thus bridging the distance between us. Sharing this, hoping it inspires others navigating remote teamwork. It's about finding those gems that bring us closer, no matter where we are. #RemoteWork #TeamCulture #GlobalTeam

My favorite tool for managing a fully remote law firm is Gather. In the video below, I take you on a tour of our virtual office that we created using Gather. There are a few extremely valuable features: 1. Everyone can create their own unique office (and decorate it)! 2. You can see who is "in the office" and available to talk. The program lets you move your avatar around the office to establish video chats. 3. Everyone can meet in a virtual conference room for a staff meeting or hold a private meeting in someone's office. For more tips on how to manage a remote law firm, check out the most recent version of my podcast (The Josh Gerben Show). You can find it on Apple, Spotify or YouTube. #remotework #lawfirmmanagement

🏠 As a tech company, it’s only right that we use exciting new platforms in all areas of our business which is why we use Gather as our virtual work space 🗄️ This means that although we are a fully remote company, we use technology to bring us all together and anyone can ‘walk’ over to a desk and talk to someone - it has really helped us to communicate as a growing team. 🔗 Find out more about Gather here ➡️ https://www.gather.town #work #team #workspace #tech #gather

Our team has been Gather-ing together for a week now, and it's been a-maize-ing! 🌽 Having a virtual office space where we can hang out, chat, and collaborate has been so great for morale. One of our engineers, Taylor Guidon, took the lead on personalizing our Gather space and decorated it for fall, let us know what you think! It's a great way to create a sense of community and belonging within our remote team. I highly recommend it to other remote teams! P.S. If you're looking for a fun way to decorate your own Gather space, here are a few fall-tastic ideas: 🍂 Add some foliage and pumpkins 🎃 Put up some Halloween decorations 🧠 Add a whiteboard for brainstorming sessions 🕹 Set up a virtual game room with fall-themed games like cornhole, pumpkin carving, and apple bobbing

recent customer feedback: "Prior to using Gather, our team used to communicate mainly with Slack. If we needed to, we'd then set-up a Google Meet call to discuss things in more detail. The barrier to setting this up each time we wanted to just have a quick chat meant that we ended up just Slacking more. This meant that things that could have been resolved in 2 minutes with a quick conversation, ended up in day-long Slack exchanges. Also, without the ability to regularly see each other, it was hard to build any kind of culture, understand each other or feel like we knew each other. We adopted Gather directly as a result of these issues, and it's been a mainstay in our team now for more than 2 years. The main benefits for us were moving to that instant communication style *with video* which is much richer than just texting, where so much information is lost. We each have our own desk and we stay all day in Gather, and now if you need to have a quick chat to someone, vou just walk up to them and start chatting. That cuts through the noise and helps you just straight to the point. By having everyone in our office daily, it helps to ensure everyone is available. It synchronises nicely with Google Calendar, and you can even define the meeting rooms when setting up meetings. The way it's been designed is really clever, and it gives you the feeling as if you are sitting in an office next to someone else. We've hosted many hackathon and other events with external people in Gather, and they'll often comment on how cool the environment is. It's a crucial part of helping us run a successful, fully remote business." -- we're truly doing some incredibly creative and impactful work here. if you're an engineer or a designer and want to be a part of it, please check out our openings and hit me up! https://lnkd.in/g5KgCM3n

    Founder & CEO, TheTokenSpace

💻 I recently started working on TokenSpace full time with my remote team—amidst varied schedules, commitments, and time zones—it was a rollercoaster! Home-based workspaces, while convenient, often overlook a crucial aspect—ergonomics. It's like cooking a great meal but forgetting the seasoning; you have the ingredients, but the flavors fall flat. 🍲 This realization hit hard, and after trying out multiple platforms, my friend introduced us to Gather—which replicates the authentic feel of a physical office. In fact, each team member can even personalize their space! Walking up to a colleague's virtual desk for a quick chat feels remarkably similar to a stroll in the office hallways. The games area? Perfect for friendly competition and breaks. With Fatima Azimova (co-founder/CTO) by my side, we meticulously designed our virtual workspace. It wasn't just about creating a place to work; it was about crafting an amazing environment that promotes belonging. We even recreated the spontaneous lunch interactions we miss from the office with our virtual lunch table—no need to schedule an awkward "lunchtime" on Zoom. Remote work demands a proactive approach. As we venture through this new normal, how do you optimize remote work for your mind and body?💡 #RemoteWork #Productivity #WorkspaceOptimization #StartupJourney #WorkLifeBalance #Wellness
