We are the Patient Access Experts for emerging biotechs planning their first commercial launch.

About us

We drive effective, timely, and data-based decision-making for Life Sciences Manufacturers: ➡ Develop comprehensive Patient Access strategies across therapeutic areas: cell therapy, gene therapy, immunology, neurology, oncology, digital therapeutics, and ultra-rare (to date) ➡ Partner with Commercial leaders for launch excellence. Present to C-level, Board of Directors, and Investors. Communicate how Patient Support Program (PSP) strategies and tactics align with Brand pillars. Collaborate with Marketing to ensure consistent expectations for health care provider (HCP) uptake and Patient activation. ➡ Assess Patient barriers and evaluate existing (competitor) programs by disease state. Identify and recommend non-promotional tactics that enable access and support persistence AFTER the Patient and HCP independently decide to prescribe. ➡ Maximize client return on objective by collaborating with stakeholders to design and implement cost-effective solutions, improving Patient experience and access. Manage Request for Proposals (RFP) process for coverage and reimbursement, financial assistance, free products, and supplemental nurse education. Optimize existing PSP operations through performance monitoring, process improvements, and quality review coaching.

Patient Support & Access Strategy. We work with biotechs so Patients can access the therapies they need. | Decision Making | Patient Services | Launch Readiness | Vendor Selection | Program Optimization

"You could stand up a launch Hub in 12 weeks. But unless you're an 800-lb gorilla who's done this a few times, it will be an ugly experience and hurt Brand more than it will help Patients." "Health plans can't get even NDCs uploaded within 30 days of launch; how much time, if any, do we need to spend talking about AI and approval logic? But we can't ignore the United AI denials nightmare, either." "Chatbots. Geez, I hate 'em. But anyone I've ever talked to in a clinic wants a 'talk now' button to follow up with their Case Manager at the Hub." "Do I talk about the IRA? Is it too soon to see if/how this shakes out for Patient OOP?" "Can you call it 'advanced technology' when it's just listing a non-dispensing pharmacy in the EMR for the doc to send the Patient Support referral?" "What does the weather look like?" I'm pumped and scared out of my skull and ridiculously excited for our Patient Support Workshop next week. 💪🏻 😱 🔥 Manufacturers, you can still register: Register: https://lnkd.in/e9ySGSPG Save $250 with promo code REDSOX FYI: ➡ Registered participant job titles range from Field Reimbursement Manager to Senior Director of Patient Support. ➡ Therapeutic areas of interest: Dermatology, Endocrine, Oncology, Ultra-Rare ➡ Manufacturer Profile: Emerging biotech OR 2022 Fierce Pharma Top 10 by Revenue (funny; no in-between) ➡ Topics prioritized by registrants: 📅 Launch timelines 💼 Field Reimbursement - Hub Interactions, 💲 Copay Accumulators/Maximizers 💻 eTools (enrollment/referral pathways, eBI/ePA, chatbots) Thank you, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions: [email protected] ---------------------- Maureen Dolan Bala #galwaygroupblog I write about #launchplanning, #patientaccess, #drugaffordability, and #workingmama victories/comedy. "What is the bare minimum we need to do? What can we hold off on?" I can't tell you how badly I want to be wrong, but I don't believe the financial landscape for biotech will improve until after the election NEXT year. I know, I know, this isn't my usual Suzy Sunshine self, but at heart, I'm a pragmatic New Englander. My intention isn't to scare you but to enable you to be the best steward of your career and the brand(s) you support today. If you're an emerging biotech, here are seven critical elements for a successful commercial launch: 1) Compelling clinical story to secure FDA approval AND a label you can live with. Your Med and Reg folks are worth their weight in gold. ⭐ 2) Forecast. The more I learn, the more I appreciate the art and science of forecasting. You cannot control costs, you cannot adequately assess risk, you cannot strategically allocate resources, and you cannot measure return on objective without a sound forecast. 🔮 3) Manufacturing and supply chain. Obvious but often misunderstood or, worse, overlooked. 🚚 4) Customers. In the US, your Customers are Pharmacies, Hospitals, GPOs/IDNs. Your customers, more than likely, are vertically integrated with Payers, which leads us to... 💵 5) Coverage. If your customers don't get paid, you won't get customers. 🤝🏻 6) User demand. Q: Who are your users? A: Prescribers. Patients. 💊 7) Access. Access ties 1-6 together. 🗝️ Before you leap to *how* (contracting! field reps! payer accounts! omnichannel! data lake! incentive comp! prescriber segmentation! patient hub!), decide upon the key performance indicators (KPIs) for 1-7. Our clients can confirm I am a broken record: success must be defined, quantifiable, and communicated. A surprise in 2023 has been how often we've engaged with executive leadership teams on topics unrelated to Patient Support. Biotech is taking a bath in the market. Your million-dollar hub contract might need to wait, but science can't. Therapies holding great promise for Patients still need to reach those Patients. Please drop me a line if you want a sounding board to help map your 2024 priorities. ---------------------- Maureen Dolan Bala #galwaygroupblog I write about #launchplanning, #patientaccess, #drugaffordability, and #workingmama victories/comedy. Just because *I* think a Customer needs something doesn't mean they think they do. 😜 I'm considering piloting a one-day, in-person workshop in either San Francisco or Boston (maybe both) on Patient Support Launch Excellence for Emerging Biotechs. (BTW, we also have a second workshop on Optimizing Existing PSPs under development, but it's not quite ready for prime time.) We'd cover  Patient Support Strategy->  Partner Selection-> Operations and Data Integration-> HCP Engagement-> Patient Activation-> Rx Pull-Through Essentially, it would be a five-hour "primer" on Patient Support, emphasizing the cross-functional watch-outs in building an effective program for therapies covered under Pharmacy or Medical Benefits. Participants would be Market Access leaders: Trade and Channel, Patient Support, Field Reimbursement, and even Payer Accounts. The registration fee would be heavily discounted for the inaugural class. And I have questions. More than a LinkedIn poll can handle, but I'm starting with a quick temperature check. Could you please vote? Please and thanks. As the poll author, I can see how folks vote, but others cannot. #galwaygroupblog

Nine times out of ten, we need to keep our clients' names private. Even if we contract on Galway Group paper, their attorneys, without fail, insert scary-sounding language that's something akin to, "Voldemort will come and get you if you tell *anyone* that we're your client." I marvel at folks who put client logos on their own websites.  "How were they able to get the written ok to do that?" Insecurity gets the better of me when I hear other consultants name-drop their clients at networking events. I keep my mouth shut, but my stomach still turns. "Maybe our clients see us as too risky; they don't want to be publicly associated with us...?" Please don't misunderstand me— rational me knows why it's best for both parties to stay on the down low. Competition and fundraising are only a start. But when you're a small business owner, banging on doors for business, gee whiz, it would be nice to brag a bit louder. So here I am, bragging: Our clients trust us. We work hard to earn and keep that trust. And, something that only dawned on me this week, thanks to some kind words: Our clients believe in us. "We'll be able to say we knew you when!" #thankyouthursday
