About us

Fuse is the staffing industry's first & only platform cooperative. Our cooperative recruitment network and Gustav VMS platform is owned and operated by staffing firm members who partner together in mutual trust and accountability. We created this cooperative because the overly competitive and inefficient staffing industry the staffing industry needed a trusted network and platform for collaborative partnering between agencies. By fostering specialization, cooperation, and accountability for our members, Fuse increases staffing efficiency, and provides candidates with better access to employment opportunities. Our Verified H-1B Program offers additional assistance to our staffing firm members by verifying the compliance of H-1B sponsor agencies and the authenticity of their candidates. This program creates a transparent and accountable process for more effective H-1B staffing, which is a major opportunity in the US. We have an open invitation for new members to join at no cost, by signing our Cooperative Membership & Network Agreement, which sets clear partnering expectations, and facilitates increased placements and efficiency.     This is an excellent deep dive into the complex issues within the H-1B staffing market. Fuse is working hard to improve things for everyone with our Verified H-1B Program and we deeply appreciate Mickey Pelletier for his help in bringing awareness here.

    Well said Christopher. Thanks for bringing much needed attention to this awful issue within the IT staffing industry. But we can all do something about it, simply by asking more questions, raising our standards, and only working with verified sub-vendors.

    The staffing industry needs to do more protect foreign workers, and all of us who work in this industry can help. A lot of folks don’t realize it, but there’s an entire segment of technology staffing firms that consistently exploit US Immigration policy. And they do so at the expense of highly-skilled, foreign workers who are essential to America’s prosperity. LinkedIn hates posts that link to outside sites, but I’ll drop some links in the comments. These staffing firms sponsor H1B visas on behalf of foreign workers, and then sign those workers to restrictive contracts that bar them from working for other employers without paying substantial resignation fees. Their goal is to lock them into long term employment through their firms, often at below market rates, and use the threat of legal action to keep them from searching for better opportunities. Each year, these firms file hundreds of lawsuits against workers who try and break their contracts. So what can folks in the industry do? -- Know what agreements contractors sign with the firm acting as their employer of record.  -- Vet your staffing partners well and make sure they’re not subcontracting to firms you don’t know. -- Communicate more directly with your workers. Check in with them and make sure you understand their employment experience. There’s a very limited number of H1B Visas available and they serve an important role in the labor market and in America’s continued prosperity. It’s a shame so many of them are used this way.

    Kudos to Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy for shining a light on the structural issues of the H-1B system that doesn't recognize talent, and chains the H-1B work visa holder to their sponsor employer. He said: “The lottery system needs to be replaced by actual meritocratic admission. It’s a form of indentured servitude that only accrues to the benefit of the company that sponsored an H-1B immigrant.     Contingent programs are the biggest beneficiaries of lower cost H-1B workers, but they also suffer the most when candidate fraud, or bad sub-vendors get through. We wrote this article for contingent program leaders who are interested in "Turning H-1B Problems into Program Best Practices".
