As we mark the twenty-second anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, we pause to honor the memory of the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day and the countless others who have been affected in the years since. This day serves as a powerful reminder of both the profound loss and the resilience of our shared humanity. In remembering those who perished and the heroes who emerged from the chaos, we must also reflect on the values that bind us together as a community. Community means more than just coming together in times of tragedy; it is about supporting and uplifting one another every day, transcending divisions, and standing united against hate and discrimination. As we commemorate this solemn anniversary, let us reaffirm our commitment to rising above the prejudices that have emerged in the wake of 9/11. Anti-Muslim racism and intolerance have no place in our society. True remembrance involves not only honoring the victims but also ensuring that we do not perpetuate the divisions and hatred that this tragedy should have taught us to overcome. On this day of reflection, let us come together as a community, embrace the power of our collective voice, and strive to create a future where the legacy of 9/11 is one of hope, solidarity, and unyielding respect for all.

🖊 Check out FCCP Senior Census Consultant, Terri Ann Lowenthal’s, latest article, Research & Testing for Census 2030: Major Test in 2026 Takes Shape: https://lnkd.in/edvuj66H “A mere five years from now, final preparations for the 2030 Census will be in full swing. (See what I did there, census procrastinators?) Local census offices will be open (some may be virtual) and recruiting tens of thousands of field workers. Partnership specialists will be distributing promotional materials for local “trusted voices” to use in their Get Out the Count (GOTC) campaigns. The Census Bureau will be making final tweaks to its massive database of every residential address in the country after state, local, and tribal governments completed their (voluntary) reviews of the file for their respective jurisdictions; the next step is printing those addresses on census packets that most U.S. households will receive by mail starting in March 2030. The outreach and promotion campaign will have started in historically undercounted and hard-to-count communities (*footnote included in the article). How will the 2030 Census unfold? How many temporary workers will the Bureau hire; how many local offices will be scattered across the country? I wish I could answer these burning (and important questions), but I can’t — yet. Needless to say, the Bureau must first research, test, and refine the census design, methodologies, and operations. That work started several years ago and is being informed by small, focused tests, as well as two major field tests — one in 2026, and the all-important Dress Rehearsal in 2028.”

Speakers will include: ⭐ Jenny Liu, Policy Manager Technology and Telecommunications, AAJC ⭐ Laura MacCleery, Senior Director of Policy, UnidosUS ⭐ David Toomey, Senior Voting Rights & Technology Advisor, The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights ⭐ Annabelle Gardner, Vice President, Spitfire Strategies 👩🏽💻 Register here: https://bit.ly/3LFhNtF

Register for FCCP's April 1st Census Day Celebration Virtual Event: https://lnkd.in/gifN_Cnn On April 1st, attendees will now also hear from Detroit's Mayor Mike Duggan at FCCP's April 1st Census Day virtual program. Please join us to hear him share remarks! Born in Detroit, MI, Mayor Duggan has spent his entire career working in the city to solve some of the most complex issues facing Detroiters, including the City's census undercounts. Majority-Black Detroit was the largest U.S. city to dispute its 2020 census count, following a national head count in which the U.S. Census Bureau acknowledged that a higher percentage of African Americans were undercounted than last decade. Detroit has faced challenges in achieving an accurate count of its Black residents, among other populations, for decades. As we prepare for the next decennial Census, Mayor Duggan will reflect on these challenges and the critical work ahead to ensure a fair and accurate count for 2030 and beyond. Join FCCP's virtual event in recognition of Census Day on April 1st, 2024 from 4-5:15 PM ET! Come join us for this Census Day celebration! As you all know, April 1st is Census Day in the years ending in “0,” and FCCP would like to celebrate the importance of the census and the community we continue to build for a fair and accurate census every decade. Come learn more about the Funders’ Committee Census Initiative (FCCI) and hear from guest speakers, including CEO of Philanthropy Southwest Tony J. Fundaro, David Martinez III of Vitalyst Health and Sol Marie Alfonso Jones of Long Island Community Foundation, on how census information and data are used throughout the decade and the importance of planning for the 2030 Census now. You can register here for our virtual program: https://lnkd.in/gifN_Cnn Please also join us on social media on April 1st using the shared hashtag #CountUsIn to celebrate Census Day and the work being done to ensure a fair and accurate count for 2030 and beyond!
