This is Cari's story: a 51-year-old mom of 4 from Jacksonville, FL. A former Joffrey Ballet soloist and e-commerce entrepreneur, Cari was fit and health-focused. In November 2023, her daughter urged her to join Function Health. By December, Cari had completed 100 lab tests, including the Galleri by Grail test to detect over 50 types of cancer. The Function Clinical Team called with life-changing news: asymptomatic ovarian cancer was detected by the Galleri test. Shocked but empowered, Cari underwent ultrasounds confirming a Stage 3B Ovarian Cancer diagnosis. By January 2024, she had built a team of doctors and a treatment plan to tackle the cancer head-on, with Function supporting her every step of the way. While she fights, she’s spreading the word. Cari's message is clear: testing gives you power. The earlier you test, the more control you have over your future. Read thousands of stories like this from real members at https://lnkd.in/eAB-3Wa3

More than half of daily calories come from ultra-processed foods in America. The possible health ramifications of consuming these foods are significant, affecting everything from heart health to hormone balance. Consuming an ultra-processed diet may: - Increase the risk of heart disease - Disrupt male and female fertility - Weaken the immune system - Contribute to metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes - Lead to nutrient deficiencies - Trigger weight gain But the reality is that processed foods tend to be cheap, convenient, and easily accessed. Instead of blaming yourself, focus on doing the best you can with what you have access to. Here’s how: - Look for opportunities to incorporate more whole foods into your diet. - Test your biomarkers to identify which internal systems need support. - Make small, targeted changes to your nutrition that ladder up to big changes in your health over time.

Male fertility is in crisis: Sperm counts have dropped over 50% in the last 50 years. But this isn’t just about fertility—sperm health is a crucial indicator of overall male health. There’s no single cause for this decline, but factors like: Sex hormones Thyroid health Nutrient levels Stress Toxic heavy metals Metabolic state can all impact sperm health. It’s time to shift the conversation around fertility as it plays a crucial role in men’s health. Addressing it head-on is essential.

17 types of cancer are on the rise in Millennials and Gen Xers—more than ever before. What’s going on? The answers are unclear. But suspected factors like obesity and early-life exposures are thought to be driving up cancer rates in younger adults. These 17 cancers, from thyroid to colorectal, are becoming more common in younger generations, signaling the need for earlier detection and more research. Instead of waiting for screening ages to drop—take control of your health now. Function Health members take control by: Testing 100 biomarkers each year to monitor early disease indicators. Accessing the optional Galleri by Grail test to screen for 50 types of cancer when needed.

Let’s talk inflammation. To truly measure it, testing high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) is key. This biomarker can indicate your risk for inflammation-related diseases, including autoimmune disease and vascular inflammation seen in heart disease. hs-CRP is produced in the liver and released into the blood in response to various inflammatory triggers, such as: Infection Injury Sedentary lifestyle Chronic stress Toxins Allergens Sleep deprivation Processed foods high in refined sugar and unhealthy fats Nutritional insufficiencies or deficiencies But testing for inflammation shouldn’t stop at hs-CRP. To get to the root, it’s crucial to test other biomarkers to identify what may be driving elevated levels. Function Health offers access to a set of 100 lab tests that help gauge inflammation and uncover its underlying causes.

We don’t have a healthcare system; we have a sick care system. Despite all the medical advances, life expectancy in America is declining, and chronic disease is rising. Our health is created outside the doctor’s office, and our food systems and sedentary lives are not helping. We need a new way to manage and optimize our health. This new way looks like better access to lab tests, more informed lifestyle choices, and a better understanding of what’s going on inside our bodies. The best first step is to measure where you’re at. As they say, what gets measured gets managed. This new way to measure and manage your health is Function Health — a company I co-founded. It starts with 100 lab tests & insights from experts in heart, hormones, nutrients, toxins, and more. No insurance involved. No hidden bills.
