We know that every child deserves safety, stability and love. 🌈We also know that LGBTQ youth enter the child welfare system for the same reasons that other youth enter care: their biological families are unable to provide a safe, stable, and nurturing home for them, both for reasons unrelated to the youth’s self-expression and sometimes for reasons tied to rejection of a child’s identity. The good news is that with foster and adoptive parents who acknowledge, respect and support our LGBTQ youth in ways that nurture their health, safety and growth, these young people can develop the strength and self-confidence to become successful adults.
