Once upon a time, there was a guy named Varun. Varun Chandury joined Fresh Prints way back in 2018—right when FP made its big move to India—and he’s stuck around ever since! One of our OG FPals, Varun's been a rockstar from day one. Now, he's not just part of the crew, he’s the captain of our Finance ship, navigating us through every number and making sure we don’t sink! At Fresh Prints, we pride ourselves on not taking things too seriously - which is how we came about inventing a new award for every one of our Monthly All Hands - the Pet Of All Hands. The POAH awards have seen it all - dogs, cats, birds, tortoises, you name it - we’ve seen it! However, things took a sharp turn back in July… Varun gave us THE most important task ever: We aka Fresh Prints gets to name the new member of the Finance team aka his new Puppy (in return for him winning the next Pet of the All Hands - so now you know how the award can be bought)! While we trust Varun very much, we decided to ask the puppy too, and here’s how that went:  The puppy told us “bark bark bark” which translates to “I don’t wanna be nameless anymore,” so we gave our team 24 hours to pool in their suggestions. After receiving over 70(!) awesome name suggestions in total, it was now time for Round 2! Here are the names that made it to the final pool: Biscuit, Cali, Delta, Houston, Krab Krab (Bark Bark in reverse), Star-Lord, Sugar, Thor, Treasure, Varun Jr., Woot woot, Zeke Once the final votes were in - we emerged with one clear winner for this cutie patootie! Hey y'all! I am Silpa Garodia from the Frontier team :) "If I had to sum myself up, I’m definitely the “do more, get more” type! Back in school and college, I was juggling ten different things—always a top performer in academics while diving into clubs and societies—which was always so thrilling and rewarding! But everything changed when I joined a nonprofit and worked on CSR projects with big MNCs. That’s when I discovered my real passion: making a difference in people's lives. Working with people from various countries opened my eyes to the vibrant MNC culture. My first role had me diving into Google Ads alongside colleagues from four different nations. Then, just like everyone else, the pandemic hit, nudging me to chase my dream of an MBA. Spoiler alert: that plan went sideways, but something even better came along! Something always does, right? In January 2021, I snagged a position as an HR Associate L1 at Fresh Prints. Talk about a wild start—my manager left soon after I joined, and I was quickly thrown into the mix with a new team called Frontier. I became the first employee there, which was both thrilling and terrifying (hello, tears and pep talks!). At Frontier, we don’t just fill positions; we connect people with opportunities that truly matter. Since 2021, we’ve placed over 1,000 hires in 100 U.S. companies, focusing on talent from India and the Philippines. One of my proudest moments? We placed 35 hires in just three weeks, with 27 of them jobless at the time. That’s the magic of what we do! My role evolved quickly—I went from L1 to L2 in six months and L3 seven months later. Now, I’m mentoring a fantastic team: Darsha, Simran, Anusha, Kean, Somesh, and Ananya. Together, we’re not just building careers; we’re changing lives. I also completed an Executive Programme from IIM Calcutta, which helped sharpen my management skills. Currently, I’m pursuing a Master’s in Commerce to deepen my business understanding. Fresh Prints gives me the flexibility to grow personally and professionally, perfectly aligning with my values. For me, continuous learning isn’t just about degrees; it’s about keeping pace in a fast-changing world. And guess what? Being emotional is my superpower! It might surprise some, but my ability to feel deeply helps me connect better with others and lead with empathy. Hear it from Tikshita Bharti on her journey with Fresh Prints! (Part 2) Tiki didn't want to share her struggles with her family (writer's note: crying as we write this) as she knew that they would ask her to come back home if they found out she was having a hard time away from Lucknow. So she pretended everything was perfect as she tried to figure it all out. Luckily, Tiki’s hunch on Jolijt being a great mentor for her held up! She recalls being able to depend on her to work through the tough times. Slowly but surely, Tiki learned the importance of building rapport, as well as giving and receiving feedback, but most importantly she learned how to do it all with confidence. While improving her design skills was always a passion, Tiki found a new one as she continued her work: helping other people grow. Fast forward to building a full UX team, mentoring multiple people across teams, and pulling off the most impressive projects over the years, she is now the Director of Product Design. Bow down to royalty, folks. Tiki shared 3 qualities that helped her succeed: 1) Being self-driven and understanding the value of persistence. Success doesn’t always come immediately, but having the determination to push through and learn from mistakes is crucial. 2) Maintaining transparency and overcommunicating with mentors. Jolijt, for example, is aware of her deepest insecurities and proudest moments, which allowed them to tailor a growth plan to her needs. 3) Continuously challenging yourself to produce quality work by acting on feedback. Tiki recognized that she wasn’t perfect but built a better, more confident version of herself by applying feedback. Her best advice to people wishing to follow the same path as her is to have fun and build friendships at work. Her biggest support system, aside from Jolijt, was the people who made her feel at home in Hyderabad – Annie, Arpana, Miriam, Raghav, Kartik, Varun, Tariq and Nas. These people celebrated all of her small wins at work, and this helped her build the confidence she needed to survive in her lowest moments when she first moved to Hyderabad. Tiki’s story is truly inspiring, and we hope it motivates everyone here at Fresh Prints. Day 1 to Director: The Story of Tiki’s Incredible Career (Part 1) From her humble beginnings as a level 1 associate 6 years ago, to leading the product design vision at Fresh Prints as the Director of Product Design, Tikshita Bharti's journey is a testament to her ambition and impact on Fresh Prints. Back in 2018, Jolijt reached out to Tiki after she saw her portfolio on Behance. Tiki, at this point, was contemplating offers from two big tech companies but decided to give Fresh Prints a chance. Despite the 3-month long hiring process, she was invested because she loved her conversations with Jolijt, our VP of Growth. “It was like trust at first sight. I felt that Jolijt was the kind of mentor I wanted to work with,” Tiki recalls. Her family and ex seniors were skeptical initially - and for valid reasons! 1) They knew nothing about Fresh Prints (we didn’t really have a presence in India back then) and 2) She had to make major adjustments since she had to move to a new city, Hyderabad, by herself and work the night shift. The worries fell on deaf ears because Tiki stuck to trusting her instinct. Fast forward 6 months, and she got promoted to L2! As cool as that sounds, she recalls it as being one of the toughest moments in her career. “In those 6 months, I was questioning myself every day. Am I doing enough? Probably not. I must be falling short. I’m going to get fired - were thoughts I had every day.” Doesn’t really sound like the inner monologue of someone who got promoted in <6 months, does it? Tiki told us that the worries were due to a combination of things.  While she had 3 years of prior experience, Tiki revealed that joining Fresh Prints made her realize that the standard of work she was exposed to was nothing compared to the quality and standard of work at Fresh Prints. This made her determined to work harder. She was also dealing with her insecurities around communication. She wasn’t comfortable speaking English yet, which made it difficult for her to build rapport with her colleagues and customers and affected her confidence. Luckily, Tiki’s hunch on Jolijt being a great mentor for her held up! She recalls being able to depend on her to work through the tough times. Slowly but surely, Tiki learned the importance of building rapport, as well as giving and receiving feedback, but most importantly she learned how to do it all with confidence.
