A national non-profit working to end U.S. immigration detention through individual support and systemic change.

About us

Freedom for Immigrants is devoted to abolishing immigration detention, while ending the isolation of people currently suffering in this profit-driven system. We visit and monitor 69 immigrant prisons and jails, We monitor, document and report abuse through our network of visitation groups who provide a community presence inside 69 immigrant prisons and jails. We run a national abuse documentation hotline, receiving over 40,000 calls from detention per year. Our community-based programming works to build a world without detention, welcoming immigrants into the social fabric of our society. Through these windows into the system, we gather data and stories to combat injustice and push systemic change.

DMV folks! Come hang out with our team and paint your own abolitionist art, guided by the amazing local artist Derrick Morgan of Derrick’s Paintbrush. Join us for a fun night of painting, sipping, and community building. Proceeds raised from this event will help sustain us as we emerge from our “chrysalis” period in which we’ve been working hard to build out FFI’s new vision under the leadership of Laura Hernández. Come learn more about this work at our Paint & Sip! 🔗 Link to register: https://lnkd.in/d5XkqqiD When: Thursday, May 2nd at 7 PM ET Where: Shaw’s Tavern #AbolishDetention #AbolitionNow #FreeThemAll
