🎭 Fraud Leaders' Summit day 2 - morning 🎭 Kicking off day 2 we had Grant Shipway lead the opening remarks as our Chairperson, followed by a keynote spoken on by Oliver Shaw and Nick Sharp looking into the involvement of Law Enforcement regarding fighting UK fraud. Key Takeaways: 👮♂️ Compared to the Americans and Europeans, we spend more of our lives online (30%), and as such is an avenue for fraud. 👮♂️ There were estimated to be 3.1 million incidents of fraud in England and Wales (2023) and £2.1 Billion in financial losses were counted. 👮♂️ The messaging to the public must be improved with the backing of Fraud leaders, to ensure there is trust in the points raised and as such are actioned. Next up Form3 raised a conversation surrounding a proactive approach on collaborative intelligence, as a means of reforming fraud management strategies. A familiar theme continued from discussions yesterday, being that the best counter to fraud is community and collaboration in order to prevent rather than deal with it after the fact. Chris Oakley and Daniel Holmes hosted and led the chat. Questions regarding Identity Verification and KYC were raised next by Celebrus, asking "who's behind the screen?" with a modern lens looking at the current, everchanging digital age. Angela Yore, Lee Taylor, Rodry Webb, Azy Shojaeian BA (Hons) Prof PgDip (GRC), LLM (GRC) and Serpil H. looked at Biometrics, AI and ML to investigate the most valued innovations, as well as investigating how to implement a robust identity IDV strategy with less friction. There is a clear need for identity verification however the impending question is how it can be balanced with privacy and consumer protection. GBG Plc hosted their "Big Bad Fraud Report" through a lunch and learn, investigating what issues are on the rise while navigating topics such as onboarding processes, proactive strategies while balancing burnout.
