Dirty soda franchisors are making their bid for the ever-popular beverage market share. The drink is already popular in the mountain states, where many members of the Mormon Church enjoy the soda with flavored syrups and cream as an alternative to alcohol or coffee. Following up on the Franchise Times 2023 Deal of the Year, awarded to The Larry H. Miller Company’s acquisition of a majority stake in the dirty soda brand Swig from Savory Fund. The brand has expanded to 70 units from less than 50 in early 2023. In spite of increasing competition in this segment, including emerging brands Quench It and SodaRush, Swig isn’t deterred. “We are the OG. We invented this category,” interim CEO Alex Dunn said. “You’re gonna see us maintaining our lead in terms of being a leader in the space. That is about expanding Swig nationwide and allowing millions of consumers to have that Swig experience.” Read the full story and follow our Post-Close Series here: https://lnkd.in/gvyr4zgG

But before it snapped up Rusty Taco at the end of 2022, Gala Capital was already digesting its acquisition of Dunn Brothers Coffee, the Minneapolis-based concept with about half its stores in Minnesota and the rest sprinkled throughout other Midwestern states. https://lnkd.in/gNA9Rwn6
