🌍✨ Throwback: France-Atlanta Science Summit, First Regional Edition! ✨🌍 Last Thursday, September 26th, marked the first edition of the France-Atlanta Science Summit. Originally planned as an in-person event at the Georgia Institute of Technology, it successfully took place online, due to challenging weather conditions. This gathering brought together professors, researchers, scientists, and students from France and the Southeastern United States to strengthen transatlantic scientific cooperation. Over a dozen speakers and panelists enriched our discussions during this summit. This event was made possible through the joint efforts of the Office for Science and Technology at the Embassy of France in the United States, the Consulate General of France in Atlanta, the International Research Laboratory Georgia Tech-CNRS IRL 2958, and the Georgia Institute of Technology. 🔍 **Event Highlights:** **Keynote Speaker:** Raymond Schinazi, a philanthropist and scientist renowned for his work on antiviral treatments, engaged in a discussion with the Consul General of France in Atlanta, Anne-Laure Desjonqueres. Dr. Schinazi shared insights about his journey and experiences as both a scientist and entrepreneur. **French-American Collaborative Projects:** Four presentations showcased successful research projects involving links between Université Paris-Saclay, Georgia Institute of Technology, Florida International University, the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), and Université de Technologie de Belfort-Montbéliard. These projects highlighted how transatlantic professional collaborations can lead to meaningful connections and significant scientific advancements. **Local Perspectives on Research:** Professors from the Southeastern U.S. shared their views on collaboration with France, highlighting the richness of the France Science network and various opportunities to foster partnerships from North Carolina, Alabama, and Florida to France. **Transatlantic Collaboration Tools:** Presentations covered programs and tools designed to facilitate transatlantic partnerships, providing valuable information about the resources available through the Office for Science and Technology of the Embassy of France in the U.S. (France Science), the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM), the National Centre for Scientific Research in France (CNRS), the National Science Foundation (NSF) and Georgia-Tech. A huge thank you to all our speakers and participants for making this summit a success, inspiring and paving the way for new transatlantic collaboration! 🌟🤝 Mireille Guyader Anne-Laure Desjonquères Pascale Cohen Pauline Boulay Juliette Falewée Consulat de France à Atlanta Fabien A. This Monday, we had the honor to welcome the Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans & Atmosphere, and NOAA Administrator, Dr Richard (Rick) Spinrad, for a Science Diplomats Club event. We appreciate that Dr Spinrad made time for us during a very busy week for climate and environmental diplomacy, with the UN World Maritime Day, and the UN General Assembly and Climate Week in New York City 🌐 🇺🇳 In a world where the casualties and damages of extreme events keep increasing, the work of Dr Spinrad and his brilliant team to address the climate crisis, enhance environmental sustainability, and foster economic developments for a blue economy are key. The lively discussions highlighted the key role of international collaborations to build a climate ready world ! 🤝 NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration Embassy of France in the United States Mireille Guyader, Juliette Falewée, Joaquim Nassar, Maureen Ravanel, Leah Namoune, Fabien A., Sarah Minery, Zacharie Joundy, Thomas Lesage, Nicolas Maubert, Laura Gonçalves de #ScienceDiplomacy

What a pleasure it was to welcome the Institut du Cerveau – Paris Brain Institute (PBI) last week in DC during their time in the US, in between their stopovers in NY, Boston and Houston: 2 breathtaking days ! 💫 It was a chance and a privilege to host a delegation composed of the actual PBI Director, Alexis Brice, but also the incoming PBI Director, Stéphanie Debette, along of course with Brian L., Geraldine GOUZER, Geraldine FARJOT and Edith Sky Gross, PhD 🧠📕📈💡. Thank you to Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI)’s wonderful team for the discovery of their campus and work. If there is one place where everything is set up to get the brain working at full throttle and have nothing else to think about but research, it is at the Janelia Research Campus. Thank you to National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) and NIH Clinical Center (CC) for such a welcoming visit to their lab and excellent exchanges, initiating future promoting collaborations and building further transatlantic research and development on #Brain and #Mind Research.
