📺 [Deepice video series] What is an ice core and what can it tell us? Discover the DEEPICE Stories, get insights into Ice & Climate with this series of 15 videos created in collaboration with 15 PhD students involved in the European DEEPICE research project dedicated exclusively to Antarctica. ❄ 3-minute of educational capsules will give you an overview of scientific research on ice cores, an example of what we can learn today with the scientific tools available. In this first episode, Ailsa Chung, PhD student at CNRS, IGE (Institut de Géosciences de l'Environnement), Grenoble, France introduces us to the science of ice cores and the kind of information we can extract from it. We are confident that one day, scientists will develop new approaches and make new discoveries thanks to this precious ice memory. That’s why the Ice Memory Foundation is leaving the world a legacy of ice cores. Future generations of scientists will therefore have access to ice cores in order to pursue their research. This new knowledge will help them make the science-based decisions needed to build a better future for humanity. Last week, we were delighted to honor Dr. Anthony Fauci with the insignia of Chevalier dans l’Ordre National de la Légion d’Honneur, France's highest distinction, created by Napoléon Bonaparte in 1802. Dr. Fauci's remarkable career spans over 50 years at the The National Institutes of Health, where he served as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), advising six US Presidents on global health issues like AIDS, Zika, Ebola, and COVID-19. His contributions to AIDS research and leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic have been outstanding. Dr. Fauci has developed a privileged relationship with France, serving as a member of the Institut Pasteur's first International Scientific Advisory Board and leading many scientific collaborations with French scientists on HIV research, including with Dr. Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2008 for the discovery of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus. He has been awarded the Inserm International Research Prize. Dr. Fauci is also a compassionate humanist, with an unwavering commitment to associations that help the most underprivileged patients. Dr. Fauci's dedication and integrity will continue to inspire generations. Ambassade de France aux Etats-Unis Laurent Bili Mireille Guyader Joaquim Nassar
