Inspirational words from Bob Scavilla on the importance of every team member having a voice:

CEO of FourFront | Data Scientist | Search Engineer | Digital Marketing

One of my favorite theories applied to business is Wisdom of the Crowds. The theory states that groups of people are collectively smarter than individual experts. And, for crowds to be wise, they must be characterized by a diversity of opinions and each person's opinion should be independent and free from the influence of others. On the FourFront team, diversity can be different ethnicities for sure, but it’s also much more. Our diverse team has people that think differently, have different perspectives, different strengths, needs, experiences and interests. Dominant personalities can easily overshadow other team members. I’ve learned that if a meeting is dominated by a few voices, it can create an environment where others feel it’s not worth the effort to interject. Yet, given the chance, often the best contributions can come from the quieter participants. I’ve worked for years to build a work environment where all voices are heard. I’ve seen several scenarios where someone with social anxiety gains confidence in themselves as they feel heard and their input is valued by other team members. This inclusion results in a much better outcome than otherwise would be possible.

Product & UX Strategy at FourFront | Always Learning

Most of you in my network are not working in SEO, but this news may be worth a quick read: A recent leak of Google Search algorithm details gave the SEO industry unprecedented insight into how the code that powers Google actually works. It's being called the #GoogleLeak. Our team at FourFront has been learning as much as we can to inform the SEO side of the business. We have a few new ways of looking at things, new vocabulary to help discuss things (NavBoost, Twiddlers, etc.). And there are several new (small) things we could test to see what makes the biggest difference in driving visibility and business for our clients. There's also been a big shakeup in the relationship between SEOs and Google spokespeople because the leak has debunked many previous statements from the company. Ultimately though, our team's core tactics are unlikely to change drastically since most of the details from the leak so far prove what we already knew or assumed based on experience. The top takeaway is the importance of #UserExperience -- we now know with much more certainty how Google measures "post click" behavior after clicking a Google result, including that they measure if you come back to Google or not, the time it takes, etc. We also had assumed and now know that they use Chrome data to inform their understanding of user flow on a site. And all of these things impact which websites are ranked and how they show up in search results. For a long time, we have known that successful SEO relies on creating strong content that meets user requirements and provides a strong user experience. The #GoogleLeaks serve to emphasize this. Hopefully as time goes on there will be more and more overlap between SEO and UX in the web work. #seoandux

COO & CFO of FourFront | Mastering the Art & Science of Process | Efficiency Seeker | Profit Enhancer

In today’s rapidly evolving job market, the value of practical experience often surpasses that of a traditional degree. At FourFront, we’ve found that hiring individuals with hands-on experience brings diverse perspectives and problem-solving skills that are crucial for innovation and growth. Our team thrives on the unique insights and practical knowledge that multi-faceted experience brings to the table. While degrees provide foundational knowledge, it's the application of skills in real-world scenarios that truly drives success. We’ve seen firsthand how experience leverages diverse backgrounds to navigate challenges and think outside the box. We celebrate the diversity of our team's backgrounds and the wealth of experience they bring. Whether it’s a seasoned marketer who’s navigated the digital landscape for years or a self-taught tech enthusiast who’s mastered coding through practical projects, it’s this blend of real-world experience that propels us forward. Let’s continue to value and seek out those with the experience to make a difference. Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about what you know, but how you use that knowledge to drive impact. #Hiring #TalentAcquisition #ExperienceMatters #Innovation #DiversityInTech

If your website struggles on mobile, you may see a significant drop in traffic after July 5. According to Google's recent statement: "If your site's content is not accessible at all with a mobile device, it will no longer be indexable." This would cut off a major traffic driver for most websites. Google's mobile-first indexing has been rolling out since 2016 but now the hammer is finally going to drop on ALL websites moving forward. For most modern websites, this should not be a problem. But if your organization hasn't prioritized mobile optimization in the past, it should now be a top priority. #seo #mobileweb #googleindex

COO & CFO of FourFront | Mastering the Art & Science of Process | Efficiency Seeker | Profit Enhancer

The FourFront positivity initiative is more than just an agenda item; it’s a meaningful organizational process that contributes significantly to our workplace culture. It aligns perfectly with our values at FourFront, where we believe that a positive, supportive environment is key to driving innovation and achieving our goals. The positivity sessions were created and are led by our HR Manager, Christina DeSandro-Lewis. We set aside time during our bi-weekly team meetings to either share personal or professional positive news or introduce something viewed as negative. The latter share is put to the team by one individual and team members have an opportunity to help that individual reimagine the issue in a more positive light. This process can be serious, fun, or just silly, but it inevitably lightens the load. I am proud to see the unique value this initiative has provided to our team. It’s a testament to creativity and camaraderie, and it exemplifies how small, intentional practices can have a profound impact on our work and our lives. As we continue to embrace and evolve this initiative, I am excited to see how it will further enhance our team's dynamics and contribute to our collective success. Here's to celebrating positivity, supporting each other through challenges, and fostering a culture where everyone feels valued and heard.
