The Foundation for Art and Preservation in Embassies is thrilled to announce Director Jennifer Duncan’s participation in “Contemporary Art and Cold War Embassies,” a panel discussion at The Winter Show on January 24th at 5pm. The conversation will include Jorge Otero-Pailos, artist, and David B. Peterson, author of “U.S. Embassies of the Cold War”. It will be moderated by Julia P. Herzberg, Ph.D, art historian, independent curator and member of the Sculpture Committee of The Fund for Park Avenue. The dialogue coincides with the public art exhibition “Analogue Sites,” featuring large steel sculptures that Jorge Otero-Pailos created while preserving the former U.S. Embassy in Oslo, Norway, a Saarinen-designed landmark. Made from the fence that once surrounded the building, the sculptures will be displayed along Park Avenue in New York City in March 2024. About us
The Foundation for Art and Preservation in Embassies is a public-private partnership dedicated to providing permanent works of American art for U.S. embassies worldwide. For over thirty years, FAPE has contributed to the U.S. Department of State’s mission of cultural diplomacy by partnering with American artists whose works encourage cross-cultural understanding within the diplomatic community and the international public. FAPE fulfills its mission through Site-Specific commissions, Original Print and Photography Collections, preservation projects, and other arts and education initiatives. All artworks commissioned or placed by FAPE are by American artists and are gifts, representing generosity among some of the United States’ greatest artists and donors. #FAPE
