“This is our home, and who doesn’t want to come home and see a clean house?” said Brazillian waste collector, João Vitor Lima. The Cidades programme by our partner Recicleiros is paving the way for cleaner communities by bringing recycling to small and medium-sized cities across Brazil. Collaboration lies at the core of Cidades’ success, as it works to create a socially inclusive ecosystem. It brings together waste collectors, businesses, citizens, and municipal governments to increase recycling rates and reduce household waste going to landfills. And its impact is replicable. From its pilot in the city of Ceará, Cidades has grown to establish 14 sorting centres nationwide, reaching over 84,000 people with new or improved waste management services. By 2027, it aims to scale to 60 cities across Brazil’s 26 states. More than just offering a practical solution, Cidades is connecting key players along the value chain, laying the groundwork for an equitable and economically viable system for sustainable waste management. • Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. is proud to receive the EPA’s Energy Star certification for our headquarters in Livingston, N.J. This certification ensures we are more efficient than 91% of similar properties nationwide. Initiatives that our headquarters took to receive this certification include projects like solar installation to provide our building with 94% reliance on renewable energy, interior and exterior LED lighting installation, and updating the building management system controls to improve Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) energy efficiency. The Energy Star certification aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) (7) Affordable and Clean Energy, (11) Sustainable Cities and Communities, and (13) Climate Action. • As a founding member of the @Alliance to End Plastic Waste, this #worldcleanupday 2023 we are proud of the accomplishments outlined in the AEPW latest progress report for 2022.  In addition, Formosa Plastics Texas partnered with the City of Point Comfort, TX to begin a local recycling program, supplying recycling bins and curbside pickup. Thus far, 6,860 pounds of material has been recycled since the launch of the program in June 2023. FPC TX has also funded the conversion of the local recycling center into a transfer station for the entirety of Calhoun County, to increase the amount of recyclable material that can be collected and diverted from the landfill. Our commitment to these initiatives aligns with several United Nation’s sustainable development goals, such as; (11) Sustainable Cities and Communities, (14) Life Below Water, (15) Life on Land, and (17) Partnerships for the Goals. #catalysingimpact #worldcleanupday2023
