At the Foresight Institute and OpenLunar Foundation's Space Futures & Governance Workshop, Victor Luo shared valuable insights on non-traditional partnerships in space exploration. Drawing from his decade at NASA/JPL, where he led software development for spacecraft control and pioneered AR applications for Mars rover operations, Luo discussed how innovative collaborations can accelerate space development. Luo, who received NASA's Software of the Year Award in 2018, brings unique perspective from his experience building strategic partnerships at JPL, X - the moonshot factory, and now at Woven by Toyota. His talk explored how cross-sector partnerships can help make space more accessible and sustainable. As part of Foresight Institute's Intelligent Cooperation Seminar Series, Marc Carauleanu from AE Studio presents innovative research on self-other overlap as a path to AI safety. Drawing from cognitive neuroscience research on empathy and altruism, this work explores how AI systems might develop more reliable cooperative behaviors. Carauleanu, an AI Safety Researcher, presents findings from their team's investigation into how AI models can develop similar internal representations when reasoning about others as when reasoning about themselves. The research bridges neuroscience insights with practical AI development challenges. The presentation covers: * Core challenges in AI alignment * Fundamentals of self-other overlap * Implementation strategies in AI systems * Experimental results from multi-agent environments * Applications in language modeling * Future research directions Watch the full seminar here: https://lnkd.in/dwu2hKb2
