A recent judicial ruling has stalled the popular SAVE Plan, an income-based student loan repayment plan with potential forgiveness. On July 18, 2024, the 8th Circuit Court blocked key parts of the Biden-Harris administration’s plan and affects those with pending SAVE applications and those planning to enroll. Over 400,000 people have already seen their student loans vanish thanks to the SAVE plan, with nearly 8 million more signed up and hoping for the same relief. For those who've already gotten their loans forgiven, there's no need to worry about recent changes—they're totally unaffected. However, there are now millions of student loan borrowers uncertain about their future after a court ruling paused the Department of Education's SAVE plan. The SAVE plan made it easier to manage loans by adjusting payments according to income. We break down what this means for borrowers in our latest newsletter.
