When disaster strikes, food banks are among the first to respond—ready to deploy and provide support, food and supplies to impacted communities. As weather crises like tornados, hurricanes and wildfires intensify, it is crucial that federal programs like The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)—which moves food from farms to food banks to people who need food assistance—have the necessary resources to meet demand. 🖊️ Tell Congress to help food banks provide essential aid when disaster strikes—strengthen TEFAP in the next farm bill: https://bit.ly/3WaakYk 🧡 Share this post to help fuel the movement to end hunger!

We are excited to announce the new Chair of Food Gatherers' Board of Directors, Veretta T. Nix M.A.! Veretta is the Human Resources Director at Zingerman's Community of Businesses. Grateful for the support of great volunteers like those from BCN!
Last Friday, several of our BCN employees teamed up to support Food Gatherers, the lead food bank and food rescue program in Washtenaw county! Together we filled 206 boxes with assorted canned and dry goods. BCN is grateful for the opportunity to serve and give back to the wonderful community we are apart of. #foodgatherers #annarbor #communityfocused #dayofservice #washtenawcounty #volunteer

Every year, Americans throw away a mind-boggling 66 million tons of food. To put it into perspective, this is almost 40% of the food we produce, and a staggering 60% of this waste ends up in landfills. We recently sat down with Ecology Center to talk about how Food Gatherers is preventing food waste by rescuing food and feeding the community.
