The FMCSA's primary mission is to prevent commercial motor vehicle-related fatalities and injuries.
About us
FMCSA's primary mission is to prevent crashes, injuries, and fatalities involving large trucks and buses. The FMCSA was established as a separate administration within the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) on January 1, 2000, pursuant to the Motor Carrier Safety Improvement Act of 1999. FMCSA is headquartered in Washington, DC and employs more than 1,000 people in all 50 States and the District of Columbia, all dedicated to improving the safety of commercial motor vehicles (CMV) and saving lives. In carrying out its safety mandate to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities involving large trucks and buses, FMCSA: * Develops and enforces data-driven regulations that balance motor carrier (truck and bus companies) safety with efficiency; * Harnesses safety information systems to focus on higher risk carriers in enforcing the safety regulations; * Targets educational messages to carriers, commercial drivers, and the public; and * Partners with stakeholders including Federal, State, and local enforcement agencies, the motor carrier industry, safety groups, and organized labor on efforts to reduce bus and truck-related crashes.

SCAM ALERT: FMCSA is aware of a fake email being sent to carriers. This email, pretending to come from FMCSA, asks carriers to complete an attached registration form. In some cases, the email asks carriers to upload a copy of a certificate of insurance and Driver’s License to protect against fraud. The altered form requires a customer to provide their Social Security Number, USDOT Personal Identification Number, and RMIS ID (Registry Monitoring Insurance Services/FMCSA Integration).[SJ(1] Remember! ✅ FMCSA would not request this information on a form. ✅ Communications from FMCSA relating to information requests of this type would either request you to log in to your portal account or come directly from an FMCSA dedicated mailbox. ✅ Communications from FMCSA would come from an official FMCSA email address, NOT [email protected] or [email protected]. ✅ Verify any email or communication you feel to be suspicious with FMCSA or the appropriate agency. Learn more about this email scam at: https://lnkd.in/gbAXd9XH [SJ(1]This is an additional data item which appears on the altered form being provided. Can you add it to the other messages being posted?
