Transforming the way goods move

About us

Zipline was founded to create the first logistics system that serves all humans equally. Our aim is to solve the world’s most urgent and complex access challenges. Leveraging expertise in robotics and autonomy, Zipline designs, manufactures and operates the world’s largest automated delivery system. Zipline serves tens of millions of people around the world and is making good on the promise of building an equitable and more resilient global supply chain. From powering Rwanda’s national blood delivery network and Ghana’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution, to providing on-demand home delivery for Walmart and enabling leading healthcare providers to bring care into the home in the United States, Zipline is transforming the way goods move. By transitioning to clean, electric, instant logistics, we can decarbonize delivery, decrease road congestion, and reduce fossil fuel consumption and air pollution, while providing equitable access for billions of people. The technology is complex but the idea is simple: a teleportation service that delivers what you need, when you need it. Zipline is inspiring people, governments, and businesses to imagine what is possible when goods can move as seamlessly as information. How do we ensure our drones steer clear of other low-flying aircraft when navigating crowded airspace? Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (or UTM). UTM acts like an automated reservation system for different flight routes. If a drone plots a route that conflicts with an existing drone's reservation, UTM tells it to find a new route. See it in action in this video.

A year ago, Zipline and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi established the Zipline/KNUST Research Grant Award. This award empowers Ghanaian students to design, conduct, and submit research for publication. In a little less than one year, 11 KNUST students carried out two research projects focusing on sexual and reproductive health as well as healthcare disparities among underserved populations, with funding and mentorship from Zipline’s impact evaluation team. At last week's Zipline/KNUST Research Grant Award Ceremony, the students were recognized for producing groundbreaking research on the impact of drone logistics on the health supply chain and outcomes in Ghana. These young minds are paving the way for continued research in the area, and we're so proud to celebrate their hard work. Congratulations to the students Samuel Benjamin Doughan, Elikplim Abui Tamakloe, Bismark Owusu Agyemang, Michael Owusu, Abdul Ganiyu Abubakari, Sulemana Ibrahim, Abdul-Hakim Mutala, Francisca Egyaim, George Essel, Shadrach Tetteh Boyetey, and Abdul-Latif Mohammed. Thank you to the Zipline and KNUST team members who were part of this program, including Florence Haruna (Monitoring and Evaluation Research Analyst), Yvonne Aglah (Zipline Ghana Operations Lead), Dr. Peter Twum (Lecturer, Health Policy, Management and Economics Department), Dr. Princess Acheampong (Lecturer, Health Promotion and Disability Studies Department), Prof. Peter Agyei-Baffour (Head of Health Policy, Management and Economics Department), Dr. Thomas Peperah Agyekum (Lecturer, Occupation and Environmental Health Department), and Martin Mawutor Agbodzi (Research and Training Coordinator, Center for Applied Research and Innovation in Supply Chain, Africa).
