Marney Richards, FWF's Education Coordinator, recently attended Florida Project Learning Tree’s (PLT) 2023 Facilitator Retreat, which offered facilitators an opportunity to learn what’s new with PLT and join in new outdoor learning activities. Facilitators are the backbone of #ProjectLearningTree and have successfully trained over 500,000 educators to use PLT materials and continue to assist in expanding the reach of the program nationwide. We often talk about our talented team at FWF - but this is pretty cool! Matt Erpenbeck, Vice-Chair of the Federation's Board of Directors, has been featured in Vero News and recognized for his exceptional landscape photography. "'I lived and played among the great landscapes in Florida but took them for granted when I was younger,' says Erpenbeck, contemplatively. 'Now with Florida’s population explosion, some of my favorite playgrounds are gone, only to be replaced with new housing developments. I guess the main reason I choose to photograph landscapes is to capture their image before it’s too late.'" - VeroNews.com https://lnkd.in/gCsgJJ4k #KeepFLWild #wildlifephotography

With a background in GIS, he hopes to create a more sustainable future land-use model, and spread a passion of conservation to his peers. Mason is also a member of the Kissimmee Valley Audobon Society and will be attending graduate school at UF to research how land use can impact imperiled species in Florida. Monumental opportunities for water, soil, and wildlife across the country if Congress protects the $20 billion earmarked for conservation in the 2023 Farm Bill.
“With $20 billion earmarked for conservation, the 2023 Farm Bill is an immense opportunity for Florida. Delivering much-needed funding to vital conservation programs that provide incentives for farmers, ranchers and landowners to, among other things, improve water quality and enhance wildlife habitat, while creating more outdoor recreation opportunities. Protecting the $20 billion is crucial to conserving lands so our children and their children have a chance to enjoy them. Congress made a promise to deliver on this once-in-a-generation opportunity to fundamentally improve conservation across the country. Now it’s time to follow through.” Read more from Florida Wildlife Federation President and CEO, Sarah Gledhill, via the Miami Herald. #KeepFLWild
