We're just beginning to see some of the world-changing applications of AI to addressing the monumental health concerns of our times. The National Institutes of Health Bridge2AI is a great example of how major national initiative is uniting medical researchers, student researchers, industry and government in a fascinating project to develop voice as a biomarker of Alzheimer's disease. This summer, the Morsani College of Medicine is hosting a summer school for medical, health and STEM undergraduates and graduates using AI in voice research. The students are being challenged to design user-friendly technology from digital records of voices, breathing and other biomarkers, culminating in a hackathon in August where they will present their ideas. The effort has an international reach, reports USF World. Among the researchers on the project is University of Oxford researcher James Anibal and Owkin, a AI biotech company with offices in Massachusetts, London and France, on the project led by USF Assistant Professor Yael Bensoussan.
