As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, it’s essential—and always a priority at Flocabulary—to embrace the diverse perspectives of our world and ensure representation in our content. In our lesson on Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, we honor the first published feminist of the New World. 🖋️ 🎤 Learners can explore her advocacy for women’s rights through lyrics written by fellow student and past contest winner, Jelena. All aboard the boat to Literacy! On September 27th please join me and other education leaders from around the state of South Carolina as we take to the harbor for a night like you’ve never seen. Me and my esteemed colleague, Dr. Michelle Hosp, author, educational leader, and developer of Star Phonics will lead this evening of engagement and performances by local poets, musicians, and storytellers. This magical night focused on engagement and motivation as obstacles to literacy will feature a rich program of not only challenging questions and academic examination of the landscape and solutions, but also three local artists- Will Davis @endlesswill, Brittany Porcher @ttruthseeker_thepoet, and the multifaceted artist and advocate Tifara Brown @tifarabrown_thepoet. And we’re doing it all... on a YACHT. https://lnkd.in/egCKmr2K Please join us for food, music, poetry, and a deep dive into literacy for ALL South Carolina students.
