My favorite thing about this week's video is that it's a little over 12 minutes long, and only like 45 seconds of that is a demo of what this week's Flip product release is all about. I never really realized how much I ramble until I started doing this style of product release, and clearly I've gotten comfortable being on camera 🤣 There's a tiny bit of spooky at the start - it is Halloween after all. And with a dash "Flip can straight-up resolve warranty information request calls now." Yeah, it's rad. Give us access to the info, and Flip can tell your callers their warranty details the instant they ask. Easy. Michael Ludwig, I totally talked directly to you in part of this. I will forever think of you whenever I hear the word "warranty." But like in the best way. Nancy Gurd, I also absolutely called you out - my partner in crime in this purple hair journey. CONFESSION TIME I screamed at an IVR. A couple of weeks ago when I was getting ready for my trip to NYC, I bought a gorgeous Sportmax coat from LUISAVIAROMA. I thought it was going to be chilly while I was there, so thought a new coat would help me feel chic even while bundled up. The shopping experience was a lovely one - LUISAVIAROMA's website was beautiful and easy to navigate. They shipped my coat quickly and it was scheduled to arrive right on time for me to fly out the next day. Delivery day came - DHL sent me a text that morning to give me an estimated window for when the delivery driver would be swinging by. I had a physical therapy appointment that afternoon, but would definitely be home ahead of the start of that window. Or so I thought. As I was driving home from my appointment, I got a text saying delivery had been attempted - roughly 20 minutes ahead of schedule. I missed them by less than 2 minutes. My immediate thought was, "oh, I'll call their dispatch center here and see if I can pick it up." So I go to their website and find the phone number for the local DHL facility. I call, and am greeted by a standard IVR robot - do a keypad press for "delivery issue" as instructed. The bot asks me to input the tracking number, so I do. It tells me delivery was attempted and asks if I'd like to reschedule. I say "yes," but then it only gives me Monday-Friday options. I needed it by Saturday, so I say "agent." The bot says it didn't understand. I say "talk to a representative," thinking maybe my terminology was off. The bot asked for my tracking number again, I input it again, and it starts the same cycle. I say louder, "talk to a human." It cycles again and asks for my tracking number. I get frustrated and yell it one more time, and same result. So I hang up and go to Google to see if there's a different number to try. With no luck on another number, I take a deep breath and decide to try to call again to see if maybe I didn't ask the right way. I call, get the bot, try pressing 0 hoping to get to a human, and the bot relists the menu of options. So I press the number again for "delivery issues," and the cycle and result are the same. At this point, I'm screaming "LET ME TALK TO A HUMAN." I screamed it so loud my voice cracked, and when it was clear I wasn't getting anywhere, I hung up with as much rage as I could muster. As soon as I hung up, I laughed at myself and walked outside to play with Goose and literally go touch some grass. Like, "chill KK, it's just a sh*tty IVR." I know I'm not the first person to yell at an IVR, and I won't be the last. As I always say, bad phone support is like death and taxes - it's a universal experience. The good news is, there's a better option than an antiquated IVR that frustrates your callers. I know I'm always touting Flip, but as a consumer - our Voice AI is the ONLY experience I want when I have to call for support. Moral of the story is, GET FLIPPED DHL. #FlipYeah
