July is #MinorityMentalHealthAwarenessMonth, so it is fitting that I stop considering and actually start the application process for an National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) #SBIR grant to bring my concept of peer support athletes to fruition this week. There is so much research being conducted on #DigitalMentalHealth, but I feel the emphasis on technology overlooks what should be at the core of health, mental or otherwise--people. firsthand comes to mind because of their understanding that healing radiates from #trust and human relationships. I like to heal my mind and body through #exercise (in addition to taking pills and talking), so anyone who is interested in collaborating on #SteppingAheadOfPsychosis, please reach out and/or share to your networks. Specific topics of interest: #grantwriting, leveraging the #Internet to scale reach and engagement/accountability, consequences of side-effects (#MetabolicSyndrome, #hyperprolactinemia, etc), low-impact #aerobic activities, #medical and #legal exepertise, #entrepreneurship. Celebrating my 1st work anniversary with firsthand 💜 Feeling thankful for this #workmilestone 💙 Reflecting on this past year - it has been a whirlwind of knowledge, growth, culture, acceptance & hard work. I am not only proud of all the work we do at firsthand with our individuals in the community but the work we do with each other, internally as a team.
