Fentanyl Free Communities Foundation board members, committees and volunteers were busy in July! We attended legislative press conferences, meetings with counties, municipalities and treatment centers, provided resources to the public at community events, attended the Bridgemakers Evening of Excellence and Indigenous Peoples Task Force Gala, supported families as they sought justice for their loved ones and received our first grant from Chisago County Opioid Action Council! We continue to work hard at educating and raising awareness about the lethal dangers of illicit fentanyl, to protect the futures of our communities. FFCF Board member, Suzanne Nash, hosted a gala Wednesday evening at the Mystic Event Center. There, her mother, Sharon Day, was honored and recognized for starting Indigenous Peoples Task Force in Minneapolis 35 years ago! The HIV program that kick started this organization is still in place today and the additional resources of harm reduction, housing, restoring relationships with each other and the earth, and return to first Medicines all working toward a vision of healing for all. They place a heavy emphasis on protecting our youth, as we do. Michele Hein, Paul Ostrow & Jeff Fabré from FFCF were in attendance, along with our partners Cole & Walter from Bridgemakers MN. Together, our organizations continue to fight the fentanyl crisis in all of our communities. Last evening we had the opportunity to have our resource table at Harmony in the Park ~ Health Fair Night in Lindstrom MN. Thank you to two of our volunteers, Joy (Jacob's mom) and Theresa (Riley's mom). The people we talked to were very stunned by some of the statistics . . . especially that illicit fentanyl is the leading cause of death for ages 18-45. There is so much educating and awareness that needs to be brought about in every community. #fentanylawareness #fentanyleducation Michelle Loberg

Honoring Tyler Anthony Hein Today, the Fentanyl Free Communities Foundation wishes our chairwoman, Michele Hein, and her family peace and comfort on this significant day. We remember and honor Tyler Anthony Hein, a beloved son, dedicated Marine, talented musician, and cherished friend. Four years ago, Tyler tragically lost his life to fentanyl poisoning. His legacy continues to inspire us and fuels our mission to combat the devastating effects of fentanyl in our community.
