One month ago, #Helene made landfall as one of the most destructive storms to hit the Southeast. Since then, communities have come together for the same goal: helping people get back on their feet as quickly as possible. We’ve worked with partners across government, nonprofit and private sector to restore power and cell phone services, provide people with shelter and access to food and water, and helped hundreds of thousands of people apply for disaster assistance.

    • Over 1,000 federal personnel were deployed even before Hurricane Helene hit and nearly 6,000 are still helping on the ground a month later. Leaders from across the government visited affected areas to assess damage and listen to the needs of survivors.
    • Department of Transportation Secretary Buttigieg meets with Governor Cooper to discuss rebuilding infrastructure.
    • AmeriCorps CEO Michael D. Smith thanks FEMA Corps members in the field.
    • Vice President Kamala Harris talking to survivors about their needs.
    • President Joe Biden discusses damage in Florida and the federal response with FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell.
